for Alzheimer’s disease.
3. While medical professionals have yet to find a
cure for Alzheimer’s disease, studies reveal that
preventive measures and early treatment can
yield positive results. A recent trial held in
Finland, known as Finger, concluded that
increased exercise, improved diet, and select
behavioral changes can drastically improve
cognitive functions in individuals who have been
diagnosed with the disease. Results of the
Finger trial were presented at the Alzheimer’s
Association International Conference.
4. The Finger trial, among 25 similar studies
being conducted simultaneously, is one of
the largest research initiatives ever
performed in regard to preventive
treatments. Several of these trials have
invested more than $100 million in order to
determine the most effective methods of
prevention, including a major study run by
the Alzheimer’s Institute of Phoenix which
will commence next year.
