The World Water Forum
7. Preparation of the 7th World Water Forum Regional
Process
• Close collaboration between WWC and GWP in the preparation of the
7th Forum Regional Process;
• The GWP 13 Sub-regional Networks (Regional Water Partnerships)
will be key partners in most regions (Asia, Africa, LAC,
Mediterranean);
• In terms of thematic focus, IWRM has scored 2nd on the priority list of
the WWF7 Kick-off meeting, with climate change and storage (1st),
cities and urban development, disasters management and green
growth.
Therefore,
• GWP’s multi-stakeholder network and focus on IWRM, organized at
sub-regional and country level, will play a major role in the preparation
of the 7th World Water Forum in Daegu, Republic of Korea (2015).
8. Preparation of the 7th World Water Forum Regional
Process
Under the leadership of the 7th Forum Regional Commission co-chaired
by Mr. Koh and Mr. Jønch Clausen.
The Regional Commission is currently working on the identification of
regional and sub-regional coordinators for regional units in Africa, Asia-
Pacific, Americas, Europe, Mediterranean and others.
Main characteristics of the Regional Process
• Aims strong coherence with the other Forum Processes: political,
thematic, science & technology;
• Seeks strong focus at sub-regional level, linking sub-regional issues
to the overall thematic and science & technology themes;
• Gives high importance to multi-stakeholder involvement.
