We are not under the same ASD as TRICARE.
240,000 is an estimate based on 12% of the population of military family members.
The 120 additional staff provided new staffing for the Navy and Air Force and additional staff for the Army and Marine Corps. The new EFMP policy will cover both the family support and assignment coordination aspects of the EFMP.
Briefer: Explain that the office covers IDEA as well as EFMP. The office handles issues beyond what is in the NDAA 2010.
Sometimes it seems like an uphill battle, doesn’t it? When your family is connected to a service member, issues like these really affect your lives. These are some of the reasons why the Office of Community Support for Military Families with Special Needs or OSN was set up by Congress in 2010. We have heard families’ concerns and we are all dedicated to working towards improving military families’ quality of life!
The point here is that we were already working with the Services and HA to address issues regarding EFM families.
Briefer: Explain that the military health system provides medical case management. The family support centers/EFMP family support personnel will provide non-clinical case management and will refer to medical if a family appears to meet the criteria for a medical case manager.Stabilization - meets the needs of the military mission, the service member’s career development and the need of the Family member is documented.

Outreach Kits will contain resources to assist service providers in raising awareness and visibility of EFMP. Items will be packed into one box or carrying case and shipped to each service provider across all Services.

The SCORs are a set of tools we believe can be made even more user friendly and helpful than they already are. The new document is a PDF rather than a Microsoft Word file. There are numerous benefits to utilizing PDFs:• Considerable freedom in formatting and design. Because we can create the layout in InDesign (the software we use for your other large publications) rather than Word, we have much more flexibility in the look of the document. • A bookmark panel is hinged to the left of the document window, allowing users to quickly navigate the document. • The Acrobat toolbar is easy to use, making document navigation and screen navigation simple. • PDFs can be open and viewed across all systems. Acrobat Reader is a free download. PDFs are a safe method for archiving and storing data. Because if this, PDFs are the International Standard for electronic documents. • Can create the PDFs to be accessible for users with disabilities. We can enhance the PDFs so that they can be read with screen readers and used with braille printers. We tweaked some of the language throughout the document to speak to audiences that will use the SCORs in the interactive version on screen, as well as the printed version. Ensured URLs were spelled out, in addition to hyperlinked, so no meaning is lost in translation. The introduction was also customized to speak to the new format. You will also find some handy interactivity throughout the document. • The form on page 67 calculates the total expenditure as numbers are entered. • You can tab through the fields in each section, making it quick to move around. • There are not any character limits in the fields. If the characters surpass the visible area of a field, scroll bars appear to allow additional text in most cases.
The Office of Special Needs is currently engaged in producing a series of asynchronous, online eLearning modules designed to educate military service members and their families about the Exceptional Family Member ProgramThese lessons will be available to the community through MilitaryHOMEFRONT and will provide them with information and resources that will assist them in areas ranging from program enrollment to early intervention services and special education transitioning. Seen here are snapshots from two lessons that are currently under development: The EFMP Enrollment Process and Early Intervention Services.
EFMP mobile website provides families via a SMART PHONE to access information about the EFMPSmart phone uses scan the QR code and are taken to the mobile websiteThe QR code will be available on all EFMP materials.
