2. Physical contact - Non-serious contact, including but not limited to pushing in line, shoving, minor or irritating tapping or nudging.
3. Non-compliance - Brief or low-intensity failure or hesitation in response to a staff member’s directive. This includes but is not limited to sucking of teeth, gestures, delayed response, talking back.
4. Disruption - Low intensity disruption. This includes but is not limited to talking, noise making, tapping, or other disruptions to the learning environment or other situation.
5. Property misuse - Low intensity misuse of property. This includes making marks on desks, books, or fixtures that can be erased or cleaned off by the scholar.
6. Dress Code Violation - Any instance of a scholar not complying with the prescribed ReNEW uniform. This includes but is not limited to un-tucked shirts, sagging pants, excessive makeup, or excessive jewelry or other accessories.
7. Verbal Altercation between students - Any instance of arguing, bickering, or other heated verbal exchange that is not a precursor to a physical altercation.
8. Cell Phones, iPods, video games, or other electronic devices - Any instance of a student not complying with the ReNEW cell phone policy, listening to iPods during school hours, or in the possession of video game players or other electronic devices. Staff members are to confiscate the prohibited item and keep it until the end of that school day. If the student defies the rule and brings the item again, staff members are encouraged to confiscate the item until they decide to give it back to the student. Should a violation of the ReNEW cell phone policy occur, the observing adult will confiscate the phone and turn in to the Dean of Students.

10. 2nd Instance – Student/Staff conference -Student and staff member step away from the community to discuss the behavior and its repercussions on the learning environment.
11. 3rd Instance – Reflection time away from the community - Student is instructed to take some think time to reflect on their behavior choices and cool down. Staff member will invite the student back to the group in less than ten minutes. Student is expected to complete all assignments while away from the community.
12. 4th Instance – Time away from the community with buddy teacher. - Student is sent with a referral to buddy teacher with trusted student. Referral states how long the student needs to be out (5/10/15) minutes, or rest of period) and what work the student needs to complete while with buddy teacher.
13. 5th Instance – Phone call to parent and after school behavior intervention – Teacher makes phone call. It is up to the staff member if the student should talk with parent.

15. Intentional Major Property Damage - When a student intentionally damages school property beyond repair. This includes but is not limited to: writing on walls of bathroom, vandalism of classroom materials or supplies, intentional destruction of any school property or property of another.
16. Fighting - When a student engages in aggressive physical contact where injury may occur. This does not include pushing, shoving, or grabbing. Fighting is defined as hitting, punching, using any object as a weapon, kicking, or hair pulling with the intent to harm. Cases involving self-defense will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Harassment - When a student delivers disrespectful messages (verbal or gestural) to another person that includes, but is not limited to, threats, intimidation, obscene gestures, pictures, or written notes. Disrespectful messages include comments based on race, religion, gender, age, national origin, sexual orientation, exceptionalities, or personal appearance or matter.
18. Stealing - When a student is in possession of, having passed on, or being responsible for the removal of someone else’s property of a value of $20 or more or any teacher’s property of any value.
19. Skipping Class / Truancy - When a student leaves class or school without permission, or stays out of class or school without permission.
20. Inappropriate Sexual Behavior - When a student or students engage in inappropriate sexual activity on school grounds, the bus, or on a school-sponsored outing or field trip.
21. Forgery - When a student has signed someone else’s name without that person’s permission.

23. Sexual Harassment or Sexual Assault - When a student makes inappropriate comments, gestures, or images of a sexual nature about or towards another student, or school employee.
24. Stealing - When a student is in possession of, having passed on, or being responsible for the removal of someone else’s property of a $100 value or more.
25. Causing or making false fire alarms or bomb threats - When a student intentionally plans and/or makes a false fire alarm or bomb threat when no danger actually exists
26. Arson - When a student plans and/or participates in malicious burning of property.
27. Weapons - When a student is in possession of knives, guns, (real or look-alike) or other objects readily capable of causing bodily harm.
28. Drugs, Alcohol, or Tobacco - When a student is in possession of or is using tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, or illegal drugs/substances or imitations.
34. Mandatory referral to school social worker for assessment and, if necessary, referral to emergency mental health treatment or implementation of school-based treatment plan.
