profession
● Specifically, we require more of its functionality because legal document
formatting is necessarily complex
● The days of lawyers having support staff handle all of that work are largely
over
● The problem is that Word conceals what you need to know in order to
control it
10. Solution:
If you are using an existing document as a template, you must
first identify its default formatting
If the default formatting is in disagreement with what you want, it
will keep switching your formatting back to the default while you
edit
To identify default formatting, select any paragraph in your
document & click the Clear All Formatting button

The Format Painter allows you to easily to pick up
formatting you like and spread it to text that isnʼt formatted
properly
○ Click into text formatted properly
○ Click the button
○ Select/block the offending paragraphs (and thatʼs it!)
