Working Title:
Powers
Audience:
My audience is 15-20-year olds because of its violent focus, as violence and combat are the main part of
the gameplay. So for instance in my game you will be able to punch the enemy as well as attack them
with special powers like ice blast, tree wall and explosion, just to name a few. And teenagers are more
likely to like violence in a video game than anything else also in my survey the majority of people who
took it where teenagers, however the age range is as low as 15 because it is a superhero game, and
younger people prefer superhero content.
My audience is male, because the character that are in the game are all male, which means the
audience can relate to the characters more. in the survey the majority of people who took it where male
and this is because males prefer video games to females, also the violent nature of the game may suit a
male audience more, for instance the enemy or your characters can die, a male audience member is
more likely to accept that then a female audience member. This also means that a male audience will
play the game how it should be played.
My audience is middle class (ABC1) because they are more likely to buy this game, as they have the
money to buy it, also middle-class citizens are more likely to enjoy a superhero game, because
superheroes are usually middle or lower-class citizens, there for they can relate to the main characters.
My audiences psychographic is Needs Driven, because they are more likely to relate to the characters
of the game, as the game is about superhero’s and superhero’s act on impulse, which is a common trait
among people who are needs driven. And because my audience is needs driven the upgrade system is
perfect for them, because if you want your character to be super powerful your going to need upgrade
points to upgrade the characters traits, and Needs Driven people act on impulse, so there going to buy
extra content for the game just to upgrade there characters and make them powerful.
The game is not tailored to any sexuality because it is not the focus on it, meaning that there is no form
of any type of relationship in the game, any sexuality can enjoy this game. This also means the game
won’t get any controversy for focusing on a certain group of people.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have quite also of experience when it comes to video game production, in level 2 I made a gladiator
video game which was my first experience at making a proper video game, and learnt how to do basic
animation on Photoshop, I learnt how to draw good looking characters in pixel form, and I also learnt
how to export a video on Photoshop. Also on level 2 for my FMP I made Two things a video and a
poster advertising the video, so I learnt how to incorporate different products together. On level 3 on the
video game production I decided to be a bit more ambitious by making better and more advanced
animations, for instance I learnt how to make a sword swing look good, and I learnt how to do animation
effects, for instance an explosion. I also learnt how to make my own music for the video game using
garage band. Also on level 3 I made a poster, advertising irn-bru where I learnt a bunch of different
effects to use on the image.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my product is that, you have four heroes with unique powers; you can upgrade as you
progress through and switch between characters whenever you want. The characters powers will be ice,
fire, rock and super strength. The goal of the game is to make it through all the levels and to the final
boss; the enemies get more difficult the more you progress. Each character has three lives and once
they’ve lost all there lives that character can’t be used again, which means if you lose all your characters
then you lose the game, however one of the upgrades will give your character extra health. The game
will be a side scroller so that you can see the progression, and it will be pixelated to make the game look
more retro.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
Once my production is complete, I will evaluate the video game first. So I will talk about its gameplay
features, its layout and how well it works for the type of game, I will also talk about its customisable
features and how it effects the audience. And for the box art I will talk about its layout design and what it
portrays, its colours and what it tells us about the characters that it’s advertising. I can also talk about its
graphics and how they relate to the game its advertising.
