3. BACKGROUND
An Agency under Ministry of Communications
Established in 2008 by Act 771 responsible for implementation
of Electronic Transactions Act 772
NITA is empowered to:
• Oversee the implementation of a National ICT Infrastructure
project.
• Approve standard, applications and programs to improve the
work of government to ensure higher productivity.
• Responsibility of ensuring that there is efficiency and security
in the ICT sector in Ghana
• Provide quality ICT in Ghana
4. LEGAL FRAMEWORK
Electronic Transactions Law Act 772
Objective
• promote e-government services and electronic communications and
transactions with public and private bodies, institutions and citizens;
• develop a safe, secure and effective environment for the consumer, business
and the Government to conduct and use electronic transactions;
• promote the development of electronic transaction services responsive to
the needs of consumers
