13. A dam is built to hold
back flowing water of a
river (producing a man-
made lake). Water is let
through the dam that
spins turbines built into
the dam. The turbine
spins a generator.
27. Steam, liquid water, or
wind moves past it
catching the blades and
causing it to turn. It is
attached to a generator
causing it to produce
electricity.
37. When the sun strikes the
photovoltaic cell it knocks
electrons loose. The
electrons travel to the
front surface causing a
charge imbalance. That
imbalance causes a current
to move.
55. Energy is neither
created nor destroyed;
only transformed into
other forms. We can
take heat energy and
turn it into electricity,
but we cannot CREATE.
57. A wire surrounded by a
magnet is turned by the
turbine. The spinning
metal pushes out the
electrons in the inner
part of the magnet -
electricity flows.
