Volleyball has been a big part of Abby's life since she was young, playing with her older sisters and joining club teams in 5th grade. She enjoys volleyball because it allows her to focus on one thing and relieve stress. Abby also sees volleyball as a way to get her education paid for while doing something she loves. At Marshall, Abby plays outside hitter after previously playing right side hitter and server. The team is very young with only 2 seniors last year and will welcome 8 new freshmen. Abby's biggest influences have been her parents, who encourage her college sports though they did not pursue the opportunity themselves.
2. The beginning… I have been playing volleyball since I was little. My two older sisters played so when they were practicing I was always with them playing. I started playing club when I was in 5th grade and have been playing ever since then. I have had the chance to travel all over the united states while playing club volleyball.
3. Why do it? I chose to play volleyball because it is a way for me to forget about the world and just concentrate on one thing. It is also a good way for me to take my anger out, it is very much a stress relief for me. I am also playing volleyball because it a good way for me to get my education paid for by doing something that I love.
4. Marshall volleyball Last year I played as a right side hitter and a designated server. This year I will be an outside hitter, which will be new for me because I have never played this position before. Our team is very young we had 2 seniors last year and we will be getting 8 new freshman this year.
5. My Influences The biggest influences in my life and the people who have helped me make my decision about where I wanted to play were my parents. Both of my parents had the opportunity to play college level sports but they both turned them down and they said it was something that they wish they would have done. If It were not for them I doubt I would be playing a college level sport. They have been there for me through everything and really made my life easier throughout my college experience.
