Every professional educator needs online spaces for portfolio development and fostering interaction and collaboration. This presentation will look at online tools that can be used to collate and present resources, to invite community interaction and contributions and to use as a platform for personal expression. It will take the perspective of the educator who has needs for storage of ideas and tools, presentation of educational artefacts, collaboration and access to other educators online. Using freely available Web 2.0 tools every educator can develop a PLE to complement their educational objectives. This presentation is produced using established online resources including blogging, wiki development, social networking tools and podcasting. The purpose of this study was to examine EFL students’ perceptions and attitudes towards Facebook as an educational learning tool.Participants were twenty eight undergraduate female students who experienced teaching and learning through Facebook and some classroom and face-to-face sessions. The researcher, to collect data, prepared and used two instruments; The first was face-to-face interview, while the second was Facebook Perception and Attitudes Questionnaire. Having conducted interviews, and administered the Facebook Perception and Attitudes Questionnaire, data were analyzed quantatively and qualitatively. The findings revealed that students had high and positiveperceptions of Facebook and its activities as a learning environment. Also, students had good and favourable attitudes towards using Facebook on teaching and learning.

Social networking services are increasingly being used by educators as teaching and learning tools that supplement traditional classroom environments as they provide new opportunities for enriching existing curriculum through creative, authentic and/or flexible non linear learning experiences. From chat rooms, discussion forums, blogs and wikis, services like Facebook, and/or virtual world’s like Second Life, social networking tools are being meaningfully added to curriculum. The use of social networking services in education has been shown to benefit education a number of ways by supporting social learning, constructivist teaching practices, authentic instruction, student centered learning, and on demand access to learning. More research needs to be conducted into the use of social networking services and other communicative Web 2.0 technologies in teaching and learning. This article explores the pedagogical usage of social networking site and features of social networking. This article also describes the challenges of opportunists to use the social networking sites in education.

A Transgenic animal is one that carries a foreign gene that has been deliberately inserted into its genome. The foreign gene are inserted into the germ line of the animal, so it can be transmitted to the progeny. Transgenic animals are animals that are genetically altered to have traits that mimic symptoms of specific human pathologies. They provide genetic model of various human disease which are important in understanding disease and development of new target.

In BC’s nearly-decade-old “new” curriculum, the curricular competencies describe the processes that students are expected to develop in areas of learning such as mathematics. They reflect the “Do” in the “Know-Do-Understand” model. Under the “Communicating” header falls the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions.” Note that it contains two processes: “Explain mathematical ideas” and “Justify mathematical decisions.” I have broken it down into its separate parts in order to understand--or reveal--its meaning. The first part is commonplace in classrooms. By now, BC math teachers—and students—understand that “Explain mathematical ideas” means more than “Show your work.” Teachers consistently ask “What did you do?” and “How do you know?” This process is about retelling, not just of steps but of thinking. The second part happens less frequently. Think back to the last time that you observed a student make—a necessary precursor to justify—a mathematical decision. “Justify” is about defending. Like “explain,” it involves reasoning; unlike “explain,” it also involves opinion and debate. In order to reinterpret the curricular competency “Explain and justify mathematical ideas and decisions,” I will continue to take apart its constituent part “Justify mathematical decisions” and carefully examine the term “mathematical decisions.” What, exactly, is a “mathematical decision”? Below, I will categorize answers to this question. These categories, and the provided examples, may help to suggest new opportunities for students to justify.
