If two red mangrove propagules are placed in different environments, they will grow at different rates. A student placed three red mangrove propagules in a controlled tank environment and measured their growth over several months. All three propagules matured and grew into adult mangrove trees. The established mangrove trees experienced more growth than the original propagules. The student's hypothesis that the propagules would grow at different rates depending on their environment was supported.
