The document discusses Comal Middle School's (CMS) progress and goals regarding technology integration based on their STaR Chart scores. It summarizes:
1) CMS had low STaR Chart scores from 2006-2007 due to limited technology availability, but has since purchased more devices like iPads, microscopes, and smartboards.
2) A 2009 survey found teachers' main barriers to technology use were unreliable wireless and lack of equipment access.
3) CMS now has a variety of technologies available across subjects and hopes to improve STaR Chart scores by setting departmental technology goals for the upcoming year.
2. Agenda Available Technology on our campus Relation to current learners across the curriculums Progress of CMS in relation to the state Celebration of Current Use
3. 2006-2007 2006-2007 *Note- Online Learning score is 1 during this time CMS had 1 PC Cart and wireless internet was not available!
5. 2008-2009 *CMS purchased 2 iCOWs however the wireless network still inhibited flexibility Please view upcoming year’s data at Texas STaR Chart
6. Survey Results from 11/19/09 Why does CMS score so low on the teaching and learning section of the STaR Chart? Equipment not available when needed. Don't know how to apply it to TEKS. Wireless is unpredictable. Devices do not work properly. Have to reserve too far in advance. Not enough equipment for an entire team. I have no complaint with technology.

8. NOW! CMS wants to change our state scores across the board. You gave us the reasons; we found the answers.
9. We Have it Let’s Use It! 6 COWs with wireless internet 31 iTouchs for ELL students 6 USB Microscopes 1 Video Conference Center 5 eInstruction Wireless Chalkboards 10 eInstruction Clicker Sets Each set has 30 clickers 6 portable Smartboards All Math teachers have mounted Smartboards
10. As you can see…. We have purchased a tremendous amount of equipment Last year CMS had….. 3 COWs with wireless internet 3 eInstruction Wireless Chalkboards 5 eInstruction Clicker Sets Each set has 30 clickers 3 portable Smartboards
11. Technology across the Curriculum All Math lessons are presented on Smartboards, notes are saved and are printed for students whose modifications require copies of teachers notes. 7th grade ELA is teaching editing and revising strategies using the Smartboard which is advantageous to students through tactile activities. 7th grade Science uses the USB microscopes to easily distinguish plant and animal cells. Social Studies uses interactive PowerPoint's to teach students to memorize the 100 TAKS facts Career Investigations is using the COWs to accomplish their individual career tests
12. This is only a start Video Conference- ELA talks to an author & Science talks to NASA Career Investigation students continue to update their accounts in high school and follow up with college applications Science opens visual windows through the creation of podcasts. ELL students reinforce core curriculum through individually created lessons on iTouch

14. Brainstorming Curriculum Teams have 3 minutes to create a list of technology incorporation goals for 2009-2010 school year
16. Looking forward to the STaR chart of 2009-2010! With all of CMS’s purchases and network improvement, our StaR chart is deemed for improvement! KEEP up the hard work Teachers!
