This document discusses Vladek's behavior after experiencing the Holocaust. Vladek is very protective and avoids wasting anything due to his time suffering through the Holocaust, when he often had less than a loaf of bread. He learned to save his possessions and use them well because his survival always depended on it. When talking to his son Art about an almost empty cereal box, Vladek was trying to ensure Art wouldn't starve on the way home, though Art did not understand due to not experiencing what his father endured.
