2. Replacement for Diablo? Not yet!
• People have high expectations and it's hard to meet those
• Mer should be clearly labeled as a work-in-progress project
• On the other hand, we should not try to scare people away
• Balance!

3. Users don't care about developers
• They expect stuff to work
• They don't care which stuff is fun to implement and which isn't

4. Community Project – Proper Priorities
At Mer we do not have the resources to do everything at the same time quickly.
Solution? Prioritize tasks!
Stating the obvious is important.
Why? Because focus is important.

5. Task 1: Stability
Currently it is questionable in some areas.
Needs to be addressed ASAP.
Otherwise users get really bad first impression - likely never to come back.
(Especially booting freezes, which do occur on Nokia devices.)

6. Task 2: Hardware Support on Nokia Devices
Diablo users expect all the hardware features to work as they did with Maemo 4.
No excuses.
Something not supported? Label that clearly.
Things we don't yet have (on the N810):
Sound (closed module), GPS, LED notifications, typical tablet behaviour

7. Task 3: Polished UI
• Currently in a state of flux, but stabilizing
• Now based on Fremantle, so relatively easy to put something attractive together
• TI is opening up 3D drivers for older devices, opportunity for bling!

8. Task 4: Software Support
Currently very few apps exposed, people get disappointed
But! Should be straightforward to port apps from Maemo 5.

9. Basics First, Fun Stuff for Later
Users will appreciate this.
Mer becomes accessible to wider audiences = more testers, better quality
