Twitter users, if interested in a story snippet, can go to another website to read the whole story. Twitter users can “follow” their favorite celebrities, who find new ways to connect with their fans through pictures, videos, and updates. Twitter updates can be sent to your phone and/or email for even quicker access. Users can protect their tweets by setting their profile to private. Anyone who wants to follow them must request their permission. Twitter is geared primarily at a younger audience. By following users like CNN, adolescents who normally wouldn’t browse those websites are drawn into current events and news via Twitter. Twitter users can also follow their friends and share pictures and links amongst themselves. Twitter users can customize their backgrounds and create a mini-profile in 160 characters or less. Twitter users can either directly message another user (meaning no one else can read it) or leave a reply on their own page by typing @ and then the user’s profile name. Users can find possible employers on Twitter.

14. So, what’s the value of all this? In this day and age, faster is better. Twitter gets news updates as well as personal updates out on the web in seconds. Anyone can do it! It’s news directly from the news-makers themselves. There’s no red tape of deadlines, editors, or demographics. It gives everyone a forum to write about what’s happening in their life or the world around them. It keeps all different kinds of people connected, like politicians, celebrities, musicians, businesspeople, possible employers, and students.

Whether you’re a business, a celebrity, a sports team, or just your average Joe, this website connects you with millions of people at the click of a mouse. With Twitter, the world is truly at your fingertips. I believe that it hasn’t reached its full potential yet. Twitter is still relatively new, and it has lots of improvements and additions to make. But, at the end of the day, it purely and simply works. It’s going to be around for quite some time.
