3. Since mid-March 2013, BackTrack officially renamed to
Linux Times. The newly released Linux 1.0 is the continuation of
the latest version of BackTrack 5.3 which has been available
since August 2012.
Besides continuing the presence of the new BackTrack
distro with the new name, the Linux Times developed silently, has
also reshuffled and rearranged its structure, including changing
the Linux distro which is used as the foundation, from Ubuntu to
Debian. .?
4. The changes may not be much felt by users, but developers
from Offensive Security have actually made significant improvements,
installing the latest Kernel 3.7 and using Debian GNU / Linux and
Gnome Desktop as a replacement for Ubuntu ditro that has been used
as the base for its development.
continue
5. The / pentest directory, which usually collects many
security tools, now on Linux Times has been abandoned. The
replacement app is being updated and integrated with the
application of the Debian system app. Navigation through the
Start menu has also been simplified. The "Top Ten" section breaks
ten popular applications such as John the Ripper to break
Password or Metasploit-Framework used to strengthen the
weaknesses of the IT infrastructure.

6. The reason for choosing Debian, according to Mati Aharoni
from Offensive Security, is because Debian has a solid base, and in
both Unstable and Experimental branches, it is very close to the latest
technology. This is in harmony with the development of security
applications, which also constantly adopt the latest technology. Times
Linux 1.0 is based on Debian GNU / Linux with Linux Kernel version 3.7
which has earned some of the most important Patches.

7. Thanks to the new structure of the Linux Times, users can
relatively easily replace their desktop environment from the
many options provided, including KDE SC, GNOME, XFCE, LXDE,
E17 or MATE.
Besides the usual editions for 32-bit and 64-bit intel
architecture, Offensive Security also publishes CD prints that
support ARM processors, including for Rasperry Pi, SainSmart
SS808 and Samsung-made Chromebooks. In addition, Linux Kali
developers have sought to support as many of the existing WLAN
system interfaces as possible, with the aim of being more
effective.

8. 2. The development of Linux
Times
Times Linux is a completely redeveloped BackTrack Linux,
fully following the standard Debian development. All new
infrastructure has been put in one place, all tools have been
reviewed and packaged, and we use Git for its VCS.
1. Over 300 penetration testing tools: After reviewing every tool
found in BackTrack, we eliminate large amounts of tools that do
not work or have tools available that provide similar functionality.
2. Free and will always be free: Times Linux, like its predecessor, is
completely free and will always be free. You will never be asked
to pay for Linux Times.
9. 3. Open source Git tree: We strongly support open source software
and development tree is available for everyone who wants to see it,
and all sources are available for those who want to change and
rebuild the entire package.
Times Linux is a completely redeveloped BackTrack Linux, fully
following the standard Debian development. All new infrastructure has
been put in one place, all tools have been reviewed and packaged,
and we are
4. Following FHS compliant: Times have been developed to comply
with FHS (Filesystem Hierarchy Standard), allowing all Linux users to
easily search for binary files, support files , library, and others.
continue
10. 5. Extensive wireless device support: We have built Linux Times
to support as many wireless devices as we can, allowing it to
run well on various hardware and compatible with various USB
and other wireless devices.
6.Modified patch kernel for injection: As a penetration
tester, our team often needs to do wireless assessments so our
kernel has the latest patch injection.
7. Safe development environment: Times Linux team consists
of a group of trusted people who can only commit packets
and interact with the repository while using some secure
protocol.
continue
11. 9. GPG marks multiple packets and repos: All Kali packets are
marked by each individual developer when the packets are
created and committed, then the repositories mark the
packets.
10. Many languages: Although penetration testing tools tend to
be written in English, we have made sure that Kali Linux has
multiple language support, allowing more users to operate it in
their language and find the tools they need for the job.
11. Completely revamped: We fully understand that not
everyone will agree with our design decisions so we have made
it as easy as possible for experienced users to change Linux
continue
12. 12. Supporting ARMEL and ARMHF: Since ARM-based systems
are becoming more common and inexpensive, we know that
ARM Kali Linux support will be as powerful as we can manage,
so installations can work for both ARMEL & ARMHF systems.
Times Linux has an ARM repository integrated with major
distribution channels so tools for ARM will be updated in
conjunction with the rest of the distribution.

13. Times Linux is currently available for the following
devices:
rk3306 mk / ss808.
Raspberry Pi.
ODROID U2 / X2
Samsung Chromeboo.
EfikaMX.
Beaglebone Black /
CuBox.
Galaxy Note 10.1.
gkin for experienced users to change Linux Times as
they see fit.
14. 3. Excess Linux Times
kelebihan Kali Linux yaitu telah memiliki :
FHS-compliant system.
FHS-compliant itu adalah untuk menjalankan
program tidak melalui directory asal, misalkan kita mau
menjalankan Sqlmap, kalo pake backtrack kita harus menuju
directory sqlmap dahulu "cd /pentest/database/sqlmap" lalu
eksekusi sqlmap "./sqlmap".
Namun kalo pake Kali Linux yang telah
mendukung FHS-compliant system, kita tidak perlu lagi masuk ke
directory /pentest/database/sqlmap.
15. Repositories Kali Linux telah sinkron dengan Repository debian.
maksudnya yaitu, jika Debian mengupdate package maka
16. ISO Cuztomization
That is, we can create our own Image cd (ISO) with our own
package / application, for example I want to make ISO Kali
Linux, which only there is wine in it big grin, then the other
packages will not be installed.
Flexible in choosing Desktop Enivorment.? By default desktop
enivorment in use is Gnome, but we still can change as we
wish happy eg want to change KDE.
