Do
• Sign the page provided in your organiser to
show you accept our ICT use policy.
• Your parent / carer should also sign.
• The policy you are agreeing to is in the parents’
guide.
• If this is not done soon after the beginning of
term you will not be allowed to use the network.

Don’t
• Tell anyone your password.
• Leave your computer logged on at the end of a
session.
• If you do they could log on as you and do
something inappropriate you’ll get the blame.
•Disturb the work of others in the room.

Do
• Leave bags and coats under tables NOT
benches where you sit
• Put you hand up if you need help, do not call out.
• Bring your own ear phones so that you can listen
to sound from your computer when required.
• But note – You can only listen to music when your teacher
lets you.

Don’t
• Disconnect / tamper with any equipment.
• Touch anyone else’s keyboard or mouse.
• Alter any of the menu items on the monitors.
• Eat in a computer room (including chewing
gum)
• Drink in a computer room near electrical
equipment.

Remember:-
• The computer system is owned by the School and
made available to you to further your education.
• We retain the right to examine or delete any files
that may be held on the system.
• We retain the right to monitor any internet sites
visited and any searches made.
• These statements form part of the policy that you
accept when you sign the agreement.

• We use folders to organise our files
• Create a folder for ICT
e.g. My DocumentsICT
• Create a folder for each subject
e.g. My DocumentsICT
• Create a folder for each unit of work
e.g. My DocumentsICTUnit 1

• Save your work in an appropriate folder with a descriptive file name
e.g. ‘ProjectPlan’

Do
• Use appropriate filenames, but not more
than 16 characters long.
• Only keep school-related work on the
network.
• Compress images when resizing (click on
a image then ‘Format’ and select
‘Compress Pictures)

Don’t
• Store files (e.g. pictures / music) not related to school
work in your area.
• Save pictures in .bmp format - .jpg or .gif use less
room.
• Print without first previewing. Also, don’t use the print
icon; click File-Print then select the correct printer.
• Print without your teachers permission.
• Leave you seat to collect prints unless specifically told
to do so.

• Access the internet unless directed to do so.
• Save or display any offensive material.
• Waste time on computers (as judged by any member
of teaching or technical staff).
