International Fair!
Modern life can hardly be imagined without
genuineleathergoods.Thismaterialisusedinmanyindustries
— from production of clothes and footwear to automotive
manufacturing and art. The effective development of leather
material production and the improvement of tanning waste
processing and recovery are of strategic importance for the
development of Russian consumer goods industry till 2025.
Nowadays 41 Russian mills work with genuine leather, the
market volume is about 15 bln. roubles, whereas the annual
investments of the Russian tanneries in modernization and
technical upgrading make up about 1.4 bln. roubles. In
the result of the investment processes in the industry, the
advanced leather processing volume increased by 15.7%, and
regarding the results of the first half of 2016, the leather
production volume increased alreadyby16.5% from the same
period a year earlier. Russian finished leather and leather
goods are competitive with imported analogues; many
types of goods are successfully exported to such developed
countries as Italy, Germany, Austria, China, etc.
For the second year in a row, Russian companies show
the best examples of the national leather making in Italy.
Nowadays currying is a highly technical, multilevel and
multicomponent process. It is worth noting that our
manufacturers are constantly improving their production
techniques, while carefully honouring the traditions. The
Russian traditions include primarily mentorship, preservation
of leather makers’ dynasties, and environmental friendliness.
It is this combination of the state-of-the-art technologies and
centuries-old traditions what opens the door to international
markets for Russian companies.

International Leather Fair!
The Russian Union of Leather-Dressers and
Shoemakers is happy to welcome you at one of
the largest industryevents that gathers leather-
dressers from all over the world. The fair, which
traditionally takes place in Milano, provides its participants
with an opportunity to present their best works, establish
new business connections and strengthen the existing ones.
For a second year in a row, Russia is presenting its collective
stand at LINAPELLE, which unites the major companies from
different parts of the country.
The previous year’s participants point out they have managed
to discover new trends and production methods, to hold
negotiations with potential buyers from Italy, Spain, Portugal,
China, India, Bangladesh, Germany, Croatia, Poland and other
countries.
Russia’s leather industry inherited its main funds from the
Soviet-time industry. Back then, there was a tannery in almost
every region of the country according to the State Plan. The
flagmen of the late Soviet modernization are still playing
an important role in light industry. Annually, the Russian
Federation produces up to 160 thousand tons of crude cattle
skins — the basic raw material for leathermaking. At the same
time, there has been a growth in exports of ready leather and
not just semi-products.
Many Russian companies have centuries of history and good
old traditions behind them. They are also implementing new
technologies to improve their efficiency. Thus, they have
mastered the methods of skin curing without chromium
compounds. This method is almost one third more expensive
than the traditional one, yet the ready leather is in much
higher demand, particularly among European children’s
shoes manufacturers, due to the more ecological treatment
of the semi-product.
Today it is obvious that modern Russian leather meets the
latest trends in the world of leathermaking. It is a high-tech,
competitive product, the demonstration of which at such
large industry events is a prospective step forward on the
way to new achievements.

The shareholder of ZAO “Laika” is Taganrog Tannery, an Open Joint-Stock
Company (certificate of incorporation Series No. АООТ No. 00058 from
October 31, 1996, Administration of the city of Taganrog, Registration
chamber; OGRN 1026102572649 from August 20, 2002, Inspection of the
Ministry of Taxation of the Russian Federation in the city of Taganrog, Rostov
Region, legal/current address: 347900, the Russian Federation, Rostov Region,
Taganrog, Kontorskaya str. 78).
The company’s founders are a group of Italians headed by the family of Cogolo
who have worked in leather industry in the seventh generation, particularly in
Russia – during 47 years. Before the foundation of ZAO “Laika”, the company of
Cogolo built five tanneries and three footwear factories in the territory of the
former Soviet Union (Russia, Belarus and Ukraine).
ZAO “Laika” is situated in the western part of Kuschevskaya station of Krasnodar
Krai. The distance from the city of Rostov-on-Don is 80 km, from the city of
Krasnodar – 198 km. The distance from the enterprise to the federal highway M4
“Don” is 8 km, to Kuschevka station of North Caucasus Railway — 1.0 km.
ZAO “Laika” operates within its own real property, which completely provides for
the performance of production and economic activity.
The facilities of the company’s production infrastructure:
Sewage water treatment facilities.
ZAO “Laika” has a complex of sewage water treatment facilities providing for
mechanical and biological treatment of production waste water after soaking and
liming processes, treatment of waste water processed at local sewage plant after
tanning processes as well as biological treatment of utility fluids in the territory
of the residential area “Kuschevka-2”, Kuschevskaya station.
The sewage water treatment facilities are situated at a distance of 900 meters
from the main manufacturing area of the enterprise. Sanitary protection zones are
observed within all the manufacturing areas.
The estimated capacity of the sewage water treatment facilities is up to 1500 m3.
At the present time, the sewage water treatment facilities process industrial
sewage water after main manufacturing processes up to 600 m3 per day, domestic
sewage from the residential area “Kuschevka-2” and military base No. 19104 up
to 300 m3.
The productive capacity of the sewage water treatment facilities of ZAO “Laika”
also makes it possible to perform the acceptance and treatment of waste water of
other manufacturing enterprises.
At the present time, ZAO “Laika” processes about 500 tons of raw material and
manufactures 8500000 square decimeters of leather for shoe upper with 119
employees.
At the end of January 2015, ZAO “Laika”began to perform the final manufacturing
stage – the production of ready-made leather.
ZAO “Laika” is fully fitted with Italian equipment.
During the manufacturing of leather products, Italian technologies, knowledge
and skills, including the ones of Italian specialists, are efficiently applied.

6. Caravan-RC is one of the top three leaders in the production of natural leather
in Russia. The enterprise works on the site of the already operating specialized
factory OAO BZHZ–the largest manufactory of natural leather in Nizhny Novgorod
Oblast and Privolzhsky Federal District. In April 2015, Caravan-RC put its facilities
into operation. The project aims to create a new process platform for tanning and
leather finishing.
The history of the chrome-tanned leather factory started in 1976. The enterprise
is successfully expanding and steadily operating in the domestic and foreign
markets. In the last years, advanced technologies were introduced and equipment
was modernized at the enterprise. Specialists use new chemicals and master
modern work techniques.
Main types of products of the Caravan-RC: Wet Blue and Crust semi-leathers, Wet-
blue semi-leather split and the Crust split, lining split, coated split, and ready-
made grain leather. The enterprise produces shoe upper materials, haberdashery
and furniture leather, and leather with thermoplastic film. The article range
includes over 50 types of ready-made leather. This product is of a high quality and
is competitive in the global market. Russian and foreign brand materials are used
in the manufacturing. The factory’s research-and-development shop is constantly
working on new technologies and color ranges. The company aims to increase the
output volumes of products in 2015 – 2017.

The limited liability company ‘Rybinsky Kozhevenny Zavod’ located in Yaroslavl
Oblast is a dynamically developing factory, which promptly and flexibly responds
to the global trends in tanning. Its capacities allow for production of 60 million
square decimeters of leather per year.
The manufacturing mill was founded at the beginning of the 20th century in the
ancient town of Rybinsk located at the confluence of three rivers: the Volga, the
Sheksna, and the Cheryomukha. The town of Rybinsk owes its name (the Russian
word ‘ryba’ means ‘fish’) to the first-class starlet, a species of sturgeon, which was
served during the feasts held by the Russian tsars in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The leather mill was founded on the site of the distillery. After the reconstruction
in 1916, the production of tough and chrome-tanned leather started. During
World War II, the factory specialists elaborated a new accelerated method of
tanning named ‘Rybinsky’.
The company’s facilities have been updated several times. Nowadays the
workshops are fitted with state-of-the-art equipment of the internationally-
recognized firms. Choice raw materials and high-quality chemical materials
are used in production. During its long history, the plant has acquired regular
domestic and foreign business partners, both among suppliers and purchasers.
The plant specializes in tough leather for the shoe bottom, including brightened
leather and leather for blinkers and saddles – plain and with appliques, of various
colors and patterns. The plant also manufactures Russian leather – a material
for the upper part of shoes produced with the use of vegetable tanning matters.
The company’s catalogue also includes split leather, Wet Blue semi-leather, and
chrome-tanned leather.The highlyprofessional personnel of RybinskyKozhevenny
Zavod constantly improves its technologies and develops new ones, widening the
range of the leathers produced.

Oka, close to the historical and archaeological reserve of federal significance
‘Staraya Ryazan’. Several centuries ago, the center of the ancient Ryazan
Principality was situated at the site of this memorial.
The tannery was founded in 1823. The small manufacturing mill with two liming
machines and a couple of tan vats belonged to Afanasiy Pankrashkin, a third-
guild merchant. In the Soviet period, the tannery was nationalized. In the 1930s,
it specialized in the production of tough leather for the shoe bottom – sole
and innersole leather. During World War II, the mill workers executed the army
orders. In the postwar period, the main facilities were updated, and the output
doubled. The factory had difficulty going through the Russian recession of the
1990s. Later, the production revived. Large-scale workshop reconstruction and
equipment updating started.
Today the SPASSK-TANNERY is a modern, high-technology manufacturing mill. Its
range of products is formed by approximately 40 types of leather. They include
Crust semi-leather, ready-made shoe materials, natural lining materials, leather
for clothes and accessories. For many years, the factory of Spassk has been a
supplier of shoe leather under the government’s defense orders.

The group of companies “Russkaya Kozha” includes seven industrial companies.
All of them have one thing in common: natural leather. Ryazan Tannery produces
many kinds of leathers for different branches of industry. The production is a full-
cycle process from raw hides to finished leather.
Ryazan Tannery is one of the oldest tanneries in Russia. In 1916 the tannery
was evacuated from Riga to Ryazan. In the 80s the Council of Ministers of USSR
decided to build a new plant in the outskirts of Ryazan. It was a rebirth of the
old tannery. New leaders came and gave it a new start. In 1996 “Russkaya Kozha”
company was established.
Ryazan Tannery is one of the largest tanneries in Russia.

- More than 400 customers around the world are the clients of the tannery.
- More than 800 tannery machines are installed on the area of 480 000 sq. m.

«Russkaya Kozha» Group produses all kinds of leathers: footwear leather, leather

We have started producing car upholstery leather which is quite hard to do:
it should be light, free of chrome and other harmful substances. Nobody else
produces it in Russia.
Footwear leather is one of the most important kinds of leather produced at the
tannery. Wide range of articles gives a choice to different producers. Creative
research with advanced dyeing and finishing techniques allows producing articles
meeting special customer demands.
Leather for military boots is one of the most important kinds of leather for Ryazan
Tannery. There are a number of demands for the quality of such a type of leather
and our tannery strictly follows them. Leather for military boots should be durable
and comfortable, waterproof, oilproof and weather resistant.
Leather for garment and leathergoods is quite special. Wide range of products is
really amazing! We should be aware of the newest fashion trends in order to meet
customers’ demands.
Under the brand “Dizaro” we produce furniture leather. Its collection is being
renewed and amplified. Simplicity and natural noble look are mostly appreciated
in upholstery.
With the actual import replacement policy of the government we have started
producing car upholstery leather which is quite hard to do: it should be light, free
of chrome and other harmful substances. Nobody else produces it in Russia.
Ryazan Tannery has also started producing aircraft upholstery leather which
meets the technical retirements and international standards. Aircraft upholstery
leather should be fire resistant, odour free, fast to rubbing etc.
We are aware of newest fashion trends in leather articles, different kinds of
embosed and colors. The companies of the Group regularly take part in important
international exhibitions. The manufacture in general could be described as
unique cause of the wide range of leathers produced at the Ryazan Tannery.
