3. Preface
• In erbil kurdistan , 16-4 its kurdistan
environmental day. As a staff of environment
department we done a carnival about
environment which include some parts:
seminar, recycling, planting trees, opening
library of department.

4. Definition of fruit
Recycling is the process of
converting waste materials into new materials
and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional"
waste disposal that can save material and help
lower greenhouse gas emissions (compared to
plastic production, for example). Recycling can
prevent the waste of potentially useful materials
and reduce the consumption of fresh raw
materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air
pollution (from incineration), and water pollution
(from landfilling).

5. What is Recycling?
Recycling involves:
–Separating materials
–Collecting them
–Processing the materials
–Remanufacturing those materials into new products
–Buying those new products
–Using those new products
6. Recyclable materials
Recyclable materials: the following materials can
all be placed in the mixed recycling containers:
o Glass, paper, and metal, tires, textiles, and electronics.
o Aluminium foil & trays.
o Cardboard.
o Food & drinks cans.
o Food & beverage cartons (tetrapak type containers)
o Plastic bottles, tubs and trays.

8. Benefits of Recycling
1. Reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills
and combustion facilities.
2. Conserves natural resources such as timber,
water, and minerals.
3. Prevents pollution by reducing the need to
collect new raw materials.
4. Saves energy.
5. Reduces greenhouse gas emissions that
contribute to global climate change.

9. Environmental Importance
1. Recycling is very important as waste has a huge
negative impact on the natural environment.
2. Harmful chemicals and greenhouse gasses are
released from rubbish in landfill sites. Recycling
helps to reduce the pollution caused by waste.
3. Habitat destruction and global warming are some
the affects caused by deforestation. Recycling
reduces the need for raw materials so that the
rainforests can be preserved.
4. Huge amounts of energy are used when making
products from raw materials. Recycling requires
much less energy and therefore helps to preserve
natural resources.

12. How plastic can be recycled?
• Plastic recycling includes taking any type
of plastic sorting it into different polymers and
then chipping it and then melting it down into
pellets after this stage it can then be used to make
items of any kind such as plastic chairs and tables.
Soft Plastics are also recycled such as
polyethylene film and bags.

13. Steps to Recycling Materials
Recycling includes the three steps below, which create a
continuous loop, represented by the familiar recycling
symbol.
• Step 1: Collection and Processing
• Step 2: Manufacturing
• Step 3: Purchasing New Products Made from Recycled
Materials

14. How recycling can reduce pollution?
o Solid waste material that ends up in landfills
causes air pollution in the form of methane
gas emissions.
o Recycling more waste reduces the amount of
methane that escapes into the air.
o Recycling also reducing the production of
virgin resources which process contributes
to pollution.
