Sir David Attenborough endorsed the iSpot project, which encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to identify plants and animals by taking photos and receiving identifications. iSpot has grown significantly since launching, with over 14,500 registered users who have made over 190,000 observations and uploaded over 125,000 images covering over 5,000 species, most identified to the species level. Developments include expanding iSpot locally, mobile apps, and launching in South Africa later this year.
