A tessellation is a repeating pattern made from one or more shapes that fit together to cover a surface without gaps. Tessellations can be found in nature, construction, and art and design. To make a basic tessellation, you need a square piece of paper, pencil, scissors, tape, and a large piece of paper. You draw a line on the square, cut along the line, tape the piece to the top to create a new shape, trace it and repeat to fill the large paper.
