“Tell me and I forget…

    Teach me and I remember

  Involve me and I learn”

                         - Benjamin Franklin
Children learn
communication
skills at a very
early age. They
learn their first
language from
their parents and
peers.
By merely being
    exposed to it,
hearing, mimicking,
playing and living it
  they are able to
 learn the language
      with ease.
While learning the language starts early on, this has to be sustained
and nurtured in an environment where the child is completely
surrounded by tools that will reinforce the learning
The home provides the
foundation of these
language skills, but the
communication skills
used in speaking the
language continue as they
grow older and eventually
attend school.
Today
¾ of the world’s mail is in English
Nearly 36% of Internet users communicate in English

English is the main language of international
business, books, newspapers, science, technology, academic
conferences, diplomacy, sports, and Academic Competitions

• International treaties, business contracts are written in
  English.
80% of the world’s electronically stored information is
 in English
This shows that English is
used globally. Therefore:

• Children need to acquire
communication skills so they
are understood.
• It is for this reason that
more than one billion people
worldwide are learning
English according to
estimates.

Here and around the world, people are
asking for better competency in English.
Being able to get by is not enough.
If your child has not
acquired the skills she
needs to be able to
communicate globally,
how do you think will
she fare in the future?
It is imperative that the child becomes
fluent in the Universal Language – English
Employers in today’s global
market want people that have
not only international
experience and good
qualifications that are
recognized all over the world
but also high proficiency in
spoken and written English.
Filipinos are no longer the Asian masters of the English
                        language
“It used to be that the Philippines’
biggest competitive advantage in the
global job market is the proficiency
of our skilled workers in the English
language. This advantage, however, is
fast being eroded with declining
mastery of the English language.”

-Andrew King, country director of
 IDP Education Pty. Ltd. Philippines
Decline in English = Poor use of outdated
          or erroneous textbooks
“Students are not being taught correct English and the resources and
materials they’re given is incorrect.” - Andrew King
Filipino children will no longer be taught English in their
                 early elementary years...
“This June, Grades 1-3 will be
      taught in mother tongue ”

      - Carmela LaPena GMA News

      It becomes even more important
for children to learn English at the
      preschool level...
There are no systems in place to help preschool
                   teachers

     Teachers strive to apply methods
they think will bring about learning
the English language but they don’t
     know where to begin!!!
The time to expose him
     more to the English
         language is
            NOW...
And the schools can help a lot!

Immersive learning: diving in and soaking up English
Through immersion, learning is more meaningful and lasting.
Immersion makes learning fun and natural

Using the tools of immersion in the classroom brings
the “third ear” into play. This is the natural ability of
the mind to learn the patterns and structure of
English in an easy and effortless way.
Did you know?
The longer the children are immersed in
an environment, the more patterns start
     to emerge and be recognized

                 The more repetition, the faster
                  the children acquire the skill
                        you are teaching

Studies have shown that children who are
immersed early are more successful in
listening and reading proficiency than late
                       immersion students.
One of the benefits of the strategy
is to make the learner see the language
    through words, and word phrases
              in context .....

For children, school is their most important
   challenge. Creating an environment
        where they can acquire and
develop the skills in the language
            is a real advantage,
                   Isn’t it?
“ I continue to believe that if children are given the
necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed
           beyond their wildest dreams!”

               - David Vitter, U.S. Senator
