Overview Breakout session from Pathfinder Learning Network event – 7 June 2011 Delivering quality innovation, productivity and prevention : enabling emerging consortia to play their part The session focused on the challenge of how the NHS can generate up to £20 billion of recurrent efficiency savings by April 2015 in the context of a tighter budget settlement, demographic and technological pressures and the need to continue to drive up quality. Primary care led commissioning presents an opportunity to meet this challenge - especially given primary care experience in long term conditions and shifting care from acute to community settings. Supporting consortia to take on and drive this challenge will be crucial.
