The challenge grants will consist of one $5,000 payment and an additional payment of up to $2,500 to match an identical amount raised between November 2013 and October 2014. The match can be obtained from foundations, private donors, fundraising events, a loan from the Finance Fund, or other means, but must be used for the project for which the organization is applying for a Community Connections grant. In-kind donations will not count toward the match. If an organization is awarded a challenge grant, it will receive its first payment of $5,000 in November 2013. Organizations may submit a request for the challenge grant payment of up to $2,500 no earlier than May 1, 2014, but no later than October 31, 2014, and only after the organization provides evidence of the matching funds.
