coaches are the same!
Career coaching is a unique holistic blend of coaching and
counselling, taking into account all areas of your life, not
just your work.
Coaching is a solutions focused approach. Career coaches
work with their clients to understand the steps needed to
achieve their career objectives.
Counselling takes a more process driven approach and
examines any behavioural or emotional issues that are
standing in the way of a person's desired career ambitions.

11. 9. How does it work
logistically?
There are a number of ways that coaching works and can be
designed to fit around your daily schedule and commitments.
I run face to face career coaching sessions from my practice in
Leatherhead, Surrey (40 mins by train from Waterloo)
Additionally I offer Skype and FaceTime sessions and work with
local, national and internationally based clients.

right coach
Ask yourself these questions
WWW.YORK-WALKER.COM
What kind of help do you need, has the coach worked
with these issues before?
What relevant experience does the coach have?
What is the coaching process?
Are you comfortable with the initial telephone
conversation?
13. I support people to make informed decisions about their career development,
supporting them to asses their professional situation with a greater level of honesty,
curiosity, empathy and compassion.
My coaching provides a holistic approach, I don't follow a prescribed or
pre-packaged plan. Every client is an individual, so all coaching programmes are
bespoke to give you exactly what you need.

Your Coach - Helen Walker
14. I have worked in the field of recruitment,
talent development and coaching for over 10
years. I set up York Walker Coaching in 2013
with the aim of supporting individuals to be
the very best version of themselves in all
areas of their lives.
At times coaching can feel direct and very
challenging. We will identify when you are
standing in the way of your own success by
not being honest with yourself. I will push and
challenge you to reach your full potential and
achieve your goals.
I will act as a cheerleader and a motivator and
our sessions will be solutions focused with the
aim of navigating obstacles and overcoming
setbacks to ensure you get to where you need
to be.

15. You will develop strategies that work for you that you can take away and
implement in your daily life.
Coaching isn’t a quick fix - it will take work and commitment on your part, both in
and out of the sessions.
Coaches are not magicians. If you don’t want to change, then I can’t make you.
Your commitment to coaching has to be evident because the ultimate responsibility
lies with you.
I am here to support you on that journey so you can arrive at your destination far
quicker than you would on your own.
Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone and see the life changing results.

11. You need to be committed?
Coaching is an investment in you and your future.
An investment you will be glad you made.
16. 12. How long will
it take?
Everyone is different, so there are no
golden rules on timeframes and the
number of meetings, either in person or
by telephone will vary depending on
what you want to accomplish.
Typically clients looking to make a total
career change usually have between 8
and 15 coaching sessions.
A single career goal is more likely to take
between 2 and 5 sessions.
