1. Aims and Considerations sheet
Existing Products:
How many existing artefacts do you feel you will need to look at?
In my research I will be looking at 3 different artefacts and comparing them with one another as
it’s a wide ranger and will help me with understanding the product more when I research the
different homeless charities.
What kinds of artefacts are you expecting to look at?
The artefacts we have asked to look at are about the homeless. This will be good to have a clear
understanding about SASH. I will also be researching different posters, websites and leaflets to see
how they make people aware of charity and the techniques they use.
What elements will you be looking at to help you with your research?
I will be looing at a variety of elements such as, the colour scheme, layout, fonts and images they
have used for their charity and I will be comparing them with one another to see how it makes the
audience feel and what its actually making the audience do and the purpose of the cause. I will
also look at how they raise awareness and what methods they use. This will be useful in the
research presentation as it will see how each technique is effective in their own ways.
Primary Research:
How many people would you hope to question as part of your primary research?
In my primary research I hope to ask at least 10 people to complete my survey as it will give me a
wide range of responses opinions and peoples individual viewpoints about what they think about
homelessness and how they are affected by it when they see or hear it in everyday life events.
What age group would you like to target and why?
My target audience will be aimed at young adults from the ages 16-24 as its similar to SASH and
this will help me have a better understanding of the charity more as its targeted at people in my
age range and it will be a good guidance when comparing them with other target audiences you
can see how it effects the young generation too.
What methods will you use?
The different methods I will use is looking at different websites, poster sand leaflets and see what
information they tell you about the charity. also with my questionnaire I will publicly post this on
blogs to get more people to take their time and share they opinions and what they think, this will
then be used in my research presentation as the responses I get will mean people have their own
thing to say and will give a range of different views.
2. How will you know if your research has been successful?
I will know if my research has been successful with the amount of responses I get from the
questionnaire a I will get to see more than one persons opinion on homelessness as not everyone
will have the same view on t he charity. Also at the end of the presentation with the amount of
feedback I will get back such as the audience asking questions about my research will also tell me if
I was successful. Even negative feedback is a good response as this will help me improve my
research in future and will guide me to make my presentation better and also aware what I will
need to include next time.
Considerations:
Why might you need to be sensitive when carrying out research during this project?
I have to take into consideration as not everyone will be ok with talking about this particular
charity as people might have personal issues with it as it could be close to their hearts and also you
don’t want to add any inappropriate information in the research that will offend someone, as this
could be a very sensitive topic to talk about, and therefore has to be done in a more sensible
manner.
Could you face any problems when trying to do this research? If so, is there a way to overcome
these?
Problems I could face during my research are inappropriate responses I get from the
questionnaire. I will have to avoid adding this in my presentation and also into my research as this
is a serious topic and should be taken seriously.
Where would you expect your finished pieces to be displayed and distributed?
I expect my finished pieces to be displayed on a website as the internet is an international source
of research people use everyday. As people have access to the internet I think it will be
appropriate that my work should be displayed on a website.
What funding issues might an organisation like SASH face?
SASH is an independent charity and its relies on the peoples support to help fund, if not enough
people support this then it will not be able to run, this will be an issue as the charity will me its
unsuccessful and will not be able to help people that are homeless which this the purpose of the
