I see high school as a new opportunity to start over and represent myself as a different person.
During elementary school, I wished to escape from the shy, quiet personality I was bound to, in

People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's

I know and I have been told that I am a kind and sympathetic person, because I love to help people
and put a smile on their faces. Even when someone is being rude, I try to "kill them with kindness"
in return. I used the quote: "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind,

A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because
I already knew I had these traits as a part of my personality. However, the results from mylearning
styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic
and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last
year, I took a survey to figure out my learning style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The
results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can
be learned and strengthened.

A person's identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends, personal interests
and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some
factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture
may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and
sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a
person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set

Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends
I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music'
is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of
adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart
pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I
love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be
on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics
that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly
consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering
(especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is
measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very
strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that,
although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will
not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a

In the lives of many people, certain items have held great importance in those lives due to their
association with elements that has an significant, if not symbolic effect on their lives, such as
association with past memories, events, or people. The locket presented in The Locket by Kate
Chopin is one that binds the themes of love, loss, the chaos of war together throughout the entire
story. I believe that the locket is symbolic the motif of love in part I, and loss in part II of the story
separately, this is due to shift in focus of the characters from Edmond to Octavie in the story, and the

Thus the locket act as a bond for Edmond and Octavie to the world of the living, as Edmond tries
his best to survive, and Octavie remains hopeful, and as both are pained by the separation of the
parting as expressed in the flash back, and this separation is not just the physical separation, but
also of the emotional as Edmond has gone off to war, a terrible deluge that has split families and
consumed many lives. At the end of part I, in the ensuing chaotic battle and retreat, the locket is
found to be on the body of a dead boy. It is here that I believe the theme of war plays on the motif
of loss, as it is inferred that this boy, whomever he was, even though it is hinted to be Edmond due
to the presence of the locket on him, died in the battle, which was described by Chopin as "a
scramble and a rush rather than any regulated movement" (P. 4, L. 2, Page 154). The battle,
described as chaotic, is inferred to have caused to death of this boy, who the audience, the priest and
later Octavie presumes to be Edmond. The significance is that the chaos of war caused the loss, as it
kills "Edmond", also causing Octavie to grieve in part II, thus showing the far reaching effects of
the war in the lives of people. In part II, the motif of loss appears in full flesh as Octavie now
appears in full mourning outfit, described as appearing

What a wonderful week, and way to end a transfer and begin a new one. I first wanted to say how
grateful I am for this wonderful opportunity to be a missionary. It's been almost a year since I left
beauty of California behind. Yet, there is something beautiful about the desert here in Arizona
that I have truly come to appreciate. This past week, on what I would say to be a very
challenging and difficult day. It hit me like a ton a bricks. As I sat down, I felt the weight of the
world on my shoulders disappear. Gone. In a second. There was a space of clarity. I had come to
realize I needed to take a look around, to really see what I have been missing. I had been charging
straight ahead, at full speed and not realizing what was around me, or who was around me. I was
to scared to look, fearing that if I did I might be pulled of course and not be what I had in mind.
Yet, that ton of bricks hit me and took off course. Just enough so that I could see the direction I
truly was facing. I had been facing the right way, but not doing it the Lords way. I was fearful, I
had to realize that I feared man, more than I had feared God. I don't mean to say that I shake and

God truly does love each and everyone of us. Even me. You would think, if that's something we
teach people, sometimes daily, that I would really understand or remember that. Well I'm not
