"Claire we've talked and thought, long and hard about this . . . We're moving." My parent's
explained. For most kids this is one of numerous things they don't want to hear. Not for me I was
ecstatic about the treacherous thing that happens when you move . . . A new life. I didn't care
about abandoning my school or friends because I had all E's and no friends. That was back in
Colorado, now I'm in high school at Higginson, New York. It's all because of one person, Alison
Sprayer. That was all behind me, or so I thought. Until one morning all of that changed. It was like
any other school day. I woke up to my alarm clock tired from staying up late the night before with
my friends. I got around and went to school. I had a normal day and then came 5th hour. We were
working on our stories like always in English. Meanwhile . . . A girl came strutting through the door.
A new face. Mr.Cane introduced her. "Class this isAlison Newman"he announced. Now that whole
Alison thing was 4 years ago when I was 12. My memory wasn't that keen to remember exactly
what she looked like but this girl looked familiar. I thought it couldn't be because this Alison's last
name was different than the previous Alison I knew however there's always the possibility and
being my curious self I had to check it out. That night I did a bit of research. I found this Alison
Newman on facebook. It ends up to be that her mom got a divorce with her husband and remarried
which caused

Personal Development Essay
Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something
worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful people on the other hand, know what they
want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and
will continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive
rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important because it helps you not only to
achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard
to attain any objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal,
there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at...show more content...
Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings
account, so then you will need to plan on how you should lower your expenses to reach the monthly
cash flow you want.
Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have
difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and personal finances.
For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or
tests. A reason for this may be due to I never planned a schedule for how and when will I study for
a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it. This
is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure
what should I study first and what I should study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how
I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to appear
before addressing them.
In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be
implemented relating to goal–setting and time management. Studying for exams require a lot of
time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at
school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal,

Short Stories : Personal Responsibility
Do you feel an obligation to think about other people's welfare? If you do, how far does that
responsibility extend? Are you responsible for a sibling, a neighbor, or even a stranger across the
world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my
understanding of my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal
responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed
members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should
we be driven by personal responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others.
Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our friends and how we live
our own lives.
First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible
for the weaker or oppressed members of society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the
weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the
"Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger
brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from
the beginning that it's a miracle I didn't give up. But all of us must have something or someone to
be proud of, and Doodle had become mine. I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible
thing, a seed that bears two

Personal Characteristics Essay
There are many personal characteristics that can affect a person as an individual and his
professional success, namely openness, ability to learn and adapt etc. These personal
characteristics can sometimes make a person successful and sometimes doesn't. As I spend more
and more time as a professional, I perceive that there are few characteristics that are essential for
professional success: namely ambitious, creative and adaptable. These characteristics come out in
many different ways. Have you set your goals? Have you decided the path you have to take to
pursue your goal? What are the sacrifices you can do to achieve your ambition? How much can
you think out of the box to resolve a particular issue or bring new idea to the table? How...show more

This characteristic will motivate me to grow better in my future career as well. I believe that few
people have a strong inner feeling that pushes them to think out of the box to identify as issue and
find the solution. Personally, I always try to find the most creative solution and do not give up until
I get it. Sometime this energy is contagious on to next. I always search for the missing links and
fine–tune my thoughts until I reach a point that works. This creativity has steadily driven my
ambitions through the organization. Today the world is changing so rapidly and the way it has
changed in last few decades, it hasn't changed in last few hundred years. So adaptability has become
the need of the hour. I believe that adaptability is the most important quality of all, particularly if one
is in technology industry. There have been times when this adaptability has changed the
nomenclature of day and night but it has also given me rewards at the appropriate times.
Adaptability, personally, has created a far–reaching international outlook and I was able to spend
time, living outside my country of origin, working for UK retails giants and this stay not only
diversified my work experience but also my cultural experience. It has improved my exposure to
diverse situations with increasing levels of complexity and this exposure has increased my
eagerness for new challenges. It has instigated a feeling in me that there

My Personal Goals Essay
As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these
goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy–tale like, we tend to see life through a rose–colored
glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals
tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or
maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for
our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the
many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.
First, my family goals include how I see myself and how I see my...show more content...
I have planned monthly individual date nights with my children, so that they can have my undivided
attention for a certain period of time.
The second family short term goal takes into account my marriage. In order to raise happy and
healthy children, a happy and healthy relationship with one's spouse is paramount. In order to
achieve this goal my husband and I have decided to also dedicate more time for the two of us. For
the next year we have made an agreement to take at least one vacation together, so that we may
increase the bond that brought us together. We have also decided that for the next three year we
will spend Holidays as a family so that we may create our own family traditions, we will do
whatever is in our power to spend Holidays together, that includes not working or making other plans
with the rest of our immediate families.
On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in
the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and
dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had
not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was
able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the
medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor
to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In

Personal Narrative Essay : A Short Story
She obviously hates me, she has no other reason to do something like this to me. Why this
quickly? Why couldn't she let me know about this a month ago? Now I have to go somewhere
that I don't know anything about. I don't know anyone there, including my own Nana! I haven't
seen her since I was six, and she doesn't know anything about me. I opened my bedroom door to
grab the suitcase, and there she was. My mother was standing there, staring at me with a blank
stare waiting for me to open the door. "Izzy..." She mumbled. Not wanting to talk to her, or have
anything to do with her at that moment, I walked back into my room with the suitcase and
locked the door shut. "I got you a car service to bring you to the airport. We're flying out of
different airports so I can't bring you." She said with a very low, saddened tone of voice. This is
just great. One, she's leaving me for two months to someone I barely know. Two, she can't even
take me to the airport. What's next, I'm going to get lost at the airport? Or maybe, I'll go to the
wrong gate for the wrong flight. Nothing is going my way, nothing at all. Two days later... The
plane landed here in New Mexico about thirty minutes ago, and I finally got my bag from the
baggage claim. I saw my nana standing in the lobby smiling at me. She had a sign saying my
name in big bold letters. I walked towards her, and she offered to give me a hug, but I walked past
her. I walked straight to the car, and anyone who could see me would think I ate a chili pepper my
face is so red. The whole ride home was like sitting in a dark room, alone, with no places where
sound could break through. Pure and complete silence. When we walked into the small ranch
home, I heard her say something in a quiet voice. "Welcome, would you like something to drink or
something to eat? Suppose a soda?" "Yes please, a... a soda... please." I answered cautiously. She
came out of the kitchen with a root beer, my favorite. "Would you like a tour of your home for the
next two months?" She asked nicely. The words, "home for the next two months" hit my like a
brick. "Yes please," I said gently. "Okay then, over here we have the kitchen..." She went on and on,
up until we reached the

Personal Identity: A Short Story
I see high school as a new opportunity to start over and represent myself as a different person.
During elementary school, I wished to escape from the shy, quiet personality I was bound to, in
hopes that I could be free and show myself as someone new in a different school. I remember when I
was in fifth grade, I was lonely, and disliked many people who I met. It seemed as if I didn't fit in;
all of the stereotypes I arranged others into were groups I never cared for. As elementaryschool
finally ended, sixth grade came. I knew that whenever I left sixth grade, I would never be the
same again. It was at that school where I picked up the hobby that would change my life forever.
It was the first day of school, and so far, it was no better than elementary school. The only difference
was that I was older, I had a locker, and I was in a different school with different people. My
personality was still the same. I still had no friends, and I never talked too much. The loudest I
got was for roll call, when the teacher would ask, in a rather boring voice, "Devin Stone?", and I
replied "Here!" Roll calls were actually something I looked forward to. As I slowly drifted through
the day, I daydreamed about going home. It was time for my last class, band. I had signed up to
play French horn, only...show more content...

I was in seventh grade, I made my best friend, made new friends in band, and showed my teachers

region tryouts coming up, I knew I had play well in order to make it in. I played the music, but I
could have done better and practiced even harder. I try not to regret the mistakes I make, even
though I can still feel a pull in my heart, telling me that I should have tried harder. I missed making

Personal Essay: What Motivates You?
What motivates you? In a small part, every aspect of my life motivates me to strive for my
dreams. My family; parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces motivate me and push
me harder to achieve my goals and aspirations. Me being the first in my family to graduate high
school, and enter into college is a tremendous amount of pressure. I want to be able to prove to
them that they can reach their dreams no matter how old or young, if they are determined.
Mainly, I want to show them that everything is obtainable if you work for it. My boyfriend
motivates me to be the best verision of myself that I can be, we both chose to go to SFA together,
after I stated I wasn't interested in going to college. He motivates me to be better, faster, stronger
and more determined. He teaches me to set high goals and reach them. Lastly, my coworkers
motivate me to continue to improve my already strong work ethic. As their manager, they depend
on me to teach them how to succeed in our work environment. Having people look up to me
motivates me to no end. I love to set examples and be a leader to show people anything is
possible. Using the table on page 237, name 3 personality characteristics you possess and explain
why? Without being redundant, three of the personality characteristics that I pride myself in
possessing are as follows: Being thoughtful: I consider myself as thoughtful because I am constantly

Essay About Myself
There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as
intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly
right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also
making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend
most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors
and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people
has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. I have learned things that have

I find that I can only recall long–term memories if they are important to me, or if they are dramatic
experiences. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my
grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter
how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I
have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend
most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very
open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different
backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very
young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have
learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting
differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the
discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a
group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is
most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most
important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe

Personal Narrative My Life
I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I
wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I
entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that
college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I
go instead of someone choosing for me.
I have chosen to go to the local community college to get used to the college experience. College

in a girls organization. This experience taught me many things. We were actively involved in
community service activities, for which I received the Silver Award. ( The second highest award
in the organization.) I learned about the value of friendship and patients with others. This
organization first introduced me to my future career. I was also involved for three and a half years
in a student government club on campus. In this club I learned many life lessons. One of which
was the value of hard work. I was one of the few people that organized the Junior/Senior Prom of
2000. My responsibilities included planning corranation, buying and organizing decorations,
planning the busing schedule, booking the photographers, fundraising, ect. This taught me about
hard work. But the best part of it was going to Prom knowing I was one of the only reasons that it
happened. As far as school goes, my schedule is very diverse. I am taking child development lab,
which is a class where students from my high school can go to the local elementary schools and
work one on one with the students. I have work in the elementary school for two and a half years. I

The car slowed, and the road was empty. Moving into the emergency lane, I turned the hazard
lights on and the car off. There was an empty gas can in the back and sneakers. I locked the door and

immunity to the eighty five degree weather had already worn off. I threw my jacket behind my back

practice my swimming today, because I wanted to try out for the swim team. Christina was
already on the college swim team, so I was hoping she could help me. When I finally got outside,
my sister and my parents were already there. "Good morning, Christina!" I threw my arms around
her. "Good morning, Nancy, you have grown so tall!" she tousled my hair playfully. I grinned and
grabbed a piece of toast. "Are you both ready to go?" my mom asked. Christina's smile faltered
and her face suddenly turned serious. "I'm not going. I have to study for a big test. I'm so sorry,"
she said, "I know it sounds like a lame excuse but it is a really important test!" "Come on!" I
pleaded, "It's just for a little while! You can take your study material with you and study on the
boat!" She sighed dramatically, "Oh all right... But don't expect me to get into the water." "We will
see about that," I grinned to myself. We walked out the door and to the bus stop. The bus drive to
the deck was uneventful, and when we got on the boat, a lifeguard with a lot of tattoos greeted us
and gave all the passengers on the boat a safety presentation. I started to daydream about making the

My Personal Feelings of Self Worth Essay
People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's
self–esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind,
positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self–image. Parents who
do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling
them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self–doubt and eventually given the
right circumstances a lower self–esteem.
My parents where very overprotective which sounds good on the surface, but this caused me to
feel unequal to my peers since my parents would not let me play sports or even go on a field trip one
time because...show more content...
If that was not enough to deal with, I also have red hair and freckles so I was constantly teased
about my appearance. All this contributed to my own lack of self–confidence and a feeling that I
was not as good as my peers.
These are some experiences that have shaped my self–esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for
myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let these experiences either motivate you or
de–motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de–motivate until I came to
the realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve.
Years ago I read a passage in a book by: "Louise L. Hay" she said; every morning you can get up and
look in the mirror and decide what kind of day you are going to have." The beauty of it is, you
can get up the following morning and decide all over again. This is a powerful statement, letting
us know we have the power to control our feelings and shape our outlook on life. If you are telling
yourself positive things, it will help you build a positive self–esteem.
Example:
Not long ago a golfer on the PGA Tour, was having trouble with his putting, he was losing
confidence, it was starting to effect his whole game and his self–esteem since even the TV

My Personal Values Essay
My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an
individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every
individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each
individual's value system is different from one another because individual's values are built up
through one's life experience, environment, and family background. Values are important to us
because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long
life journeys. Since we live in a highly connected society, each person's value system does not only
affect one's own life, but also affects many other people and the...show more content...
However, we should pay attention to our manners, utilize our communication skills; and on the
bottom line, we need to avoid intentionally hurting people. When coming across people who have
total different opinions from mine, I always act respectfully. For example, at school, we have to do
many team projects; most often, team members may come from total different cultural background,
and thus always have different opinions about the same thing. Being respectful to other students, I
am well–mannered, using appropriate language, opening to criticisms, and conducting myself
professionally. If everyone knows how to respect to others and act respectfully to each other, we will
easily to get along with each other and thus there be more happiness and less conflict in our society,
so we will make the world a better place. Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as "a
concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes.
In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It
generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to,
others. I value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses
of one's soul. According to Kantian moral perspective whether an action is morally good or not
depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the

If literary works were to be split into two categories based on length of work, I would propose that
these categories could be works that take the average reader less than half an hour to read, referred
to as shorter length literature, and more than half an hour to read, referred to as full length literature.
If this claim is accepted, then I would believe that short stories, short drama pieces, and poetry would
fit into the shorter length literature category, while the full length literature category holds longer
drama pieces, novels, and novellas. Poetry is the only genre among these that, because so much of it
is left up to interpretation, is difficult to define character development. The rest of these works, both

Maybe Mr. Adams, who talked to Old Man Warner, in "The Lottery" had opinions and feelings
similar to the people he talks about from other villages. Readers will never know. Even with a
surprise ending like Jackson's story has, it is difficult to accept that every person in this town
would feel comfortable or pressured into following through with the murder of an innocent
person. Without the sense of doubt or sense of personal growth in any characters, the story does
not really leave an impact on readers. On the other hand, characters like Greg, Kate, and Sylvia
leave impacts on audiences because they all grow and develop in some way. Having these
protagonists for the audience to latch on to and watch change makes full length literature more
affective. Furthermore, the pace of a full length work allows the audience to really "get into" these
characters that will change, develop, grow, and sink the audience in further. The typical pace of a
full length piece of literature needs to be quick enough to hook in an audience sooner rather than
later. In plays, it is easy to get this to happen with dialogue. The effective use of dialogue makes the
story move much quicker than description of scenery. The audience's introduction to the
environment, the characters, and situations are almost entirely projected by dialogue. Some play

Over the course, I have learned that all people are unique and have their own personal traits and

beautiful about all of us is that we all have diverse personalities, traits and qualities. I have learned
that we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours.
As a perfectionist, I like to present my things beautifully and creatively, and it is clearly seen on

I know and I have been told that I am a kind and sympathetic person, because I love to help people

a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it
and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not on the outside. I think people sometimes, even
me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality.
A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because
I already knew I had these traits as a part of my personality. However, the results from mylearning

and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last
year, I took a survey to figure out my learning style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The
results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can
be learned and strengthened.
I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I
found out the little unique things that make up my personality. From my personality survey, I am

factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a
person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture
may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and
sports, and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence a
person's taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are what truly set
individuals apart. An individual is not a puppet...show more content...
Society has had a limited impact on my lifestyle, mostly because I despise trends. The largest trends
I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music'
is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of
adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart
pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I
love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be
on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics
that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly
consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering
(especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is
measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very
strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that,
although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will
not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. Educational experiences also tend to influence a
person's identity. I have not had too many educational

English 12: Short story personal response for The Locket, by Kate Chopin
In the lives of many people, certain items have held great importance in those lives due to their
association with elements that has an significant, if not symbolic effect on their lives, such as
association with past memories, events, or people. The locket presented in The Locket by Kate
Chopin is one that binds the themes of love, loss, the chaos of war together throughout the entire
story. I believe that the locket is symbolic the motif of love in part I, and loss in part II of the story
separately, this is due to shift in focus of the characters from Edmond to Octavie in the story, and the
relative situation and circumstance presented in each section. I believe...show more content...
Thus the locket act as a bond for Edmond and Octavie to the world of the living, as Edmond tries
his best to survive, and Octavie remains hopeful, and as both are pained by the separation of the
parting as expressed in the flash back, and this separation is not just the physical separation, but
also of the emotional as Edmond has gone off to war, a terrible deluge that has split families and
consumed many lives. At the end of part I, in the ensuing chaotic battle and retreat, the locket is
found to be on the body of a dead boy. It is here that I believe the theme of war plays on the motif
of loss, as it is inferred that this boy, whomever he was, even though it is hinted to be Edmond due
to the presence of the locket on him, died in the battle, which was described by Chopin as "a
scramble and a rush rather than any regulated movement" (P. 4, L. 2, Page 154). The battle,
described as chaotic, is inferred to have caused to death of this boy, who the audience, the priest and
later Octavie presumes to be Edmond. The significance is that the chaos of war caused the loss, as it
kills "Edmond", also causing Octavie to grieve in part II, thus showing the far reaching effects of
the war in the lives of people. In part II, the motif of loss appears in full flesh as Octavie now
appears in full mourning outfit, described as appearing

Personal Narrative: A Short Story
What a wonderful week, and way to end a transfer and begin a new one. I first wanted to say how
grateful I am for this wonderful opportunity to be a missionary. It's been almost a year since I left
beauty of California behind. Yet, there is something beautiful about the desert here in Arizona
that I have truly come to appreciate. This past week, on what I would say to be a very
challenging and difficult day. It hit me like a ton a bricks. As I sat down, I felt the weight of the
world on my shoulders disappear. Gone. In a second. There was a space of clarity. I had come to
realize I needed to take a look around, to really see what I have been missing. I had been charging
straight ahead, at full speed and not realizing what was around me, or who was around me. I was
to scared to look, fearing that if I did I might be pulled of course and not be what I had in mind.
Yet, that ton of bricks hit me and took off course. Just enough so that I could see the direction I
truly was facing. I had been facing the right way, but not doing it the Lords way. I was fearful, I
had to realize that I feared man, more than I had feared God. I don't mean to say that I shake and
tremble before God, I mean to say that I have sought the love of man more than I have sought the
love of God....show more content...
I knew now, what I needed to do. And that everything was going to be okay. I had forgotten that
God truly does love each and everyone of us. Even me. You would think, if that's something we
teach people, sometimes daily, that I would really understand or remember that. Well I'm not
perfect, but our Heavenly Father is. It's a good thing too, Because through his loving example I was
comforted, I was able to have a new mind set, and a renewed trust in

Short Personal Essay

  • 1. "Claire we've talked and thought, long and hard about this . . . We're moving." My parent's explained. For most kids this is one of numerous things they don't want to hear. Not for me I was ecstatic about the treacherous thing that happens when you move . . . A new life. I didn't care about abandoning my school or friends because I had all E's and no friends. That was back in Colorado, now I'm in high school at Higginson, New York. It's all because of one person, Alison Sprayer. That was all behind me, or so I thought. Until one morning all of that changed. It was like any other school day. I woke up to my alarm clock tired from staying up late the night before with my friends. I got around and went to school. I had a normal day and then came 5th hour. We were working on our stories like always in English. Meanwhile . . . A girl came strutting through the door. A new face. Mr.Cane introduced her. "Class this isAlison Newman"he announced. Now that whole Alison thing was 4 years ago when I was 12. My memory wasn't that keen to remember exactly what she looked like but this girl looked familiar. I thought it couldn't be because this Alison's last name was different than the previous Alison I knew however there's always the possibility and being my curious self I had to check it out. That night I did a bit of research. I found this Alison Newman on facebook. It ends up to be that her mom got a divorce with her husband and remarried which caused Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Personal Development Essay Many people work very hard in their life but they do not seem to be able to achieve something worthwhile (Personal Goal Setting, 2013). Successful people on the other hand, know what they want and create plans to help them achieve these goals. They will establish a step by step plan, and will continue to follow that plan until their goal is achieved. These people tend to be proactive rather than be reactive. Personal planning is really important because it helps you not only to achieve your goals but to tell you how you can achieve them. Without a personal plan, it will be hard to attain any objectives you want to complete. Whether it is a short–term goal or a long–term goal, there must be a strategy on how to reach it. Having goals at...show more content... Or you may want to have a positive monthly cash flow of $500 dollars to be put in the savings account, so then you will need to plan on how you should lower your expenses to reach the monthly cash flow you want. Goal setting is therefore really important in our everyday personal life. However in my case, I have difficulty managing my time for schoolwork and personal finances. For schoolwork, I always finish my schoolwork in the last minute or study right before quizzes or tests. A reason for this may be due to I never planned a schedule for how and when will I study for a test or for a project. I usually forget about having a test or is just lazy to start studying for it. This is why when I start studying the night before the test or exam, I have a hard time trying to figure what should I study first and what I should study last. Then, a lot of time is wasted on deciding how I should start studying. I usually tend to wait for things such as exams and schoolwork to appear before addressing them. In order to be better at personal planning and become more successful, a specific strategy must be implemented relating to goal–setting and time management. Studying for exams require a lot of time and hard work to achieve good grades. The first task to do if you want to be successful at school is to set a goal about getting good grades. Without this goal, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Short Stories : Personal Responsibility Do you feel an obligation to think about other people's welfare? If you do, how far does that responsibility extend? Are you responsible for a sibling, a neighbor, or even a stranger across the world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my understanding of my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should we be driven by personal responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others. Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our friends and how we live our own lives. First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the "Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from the beginning that it's a miracle I didn't give up. But all of us must have something or someone to be proud of, and Doodle had become mine. I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Personal Characteristics Essay There are many personal characteristics that can affect a person as an individual and his professional success, namely openness, ability to learn and adapt etc. These personal characteristics can sometimes make a person successful and sometimes doesn't. As I spend more and more time as a professional, I perceive that there are few characteristics that are essential for professional success: namely ambitious, creative and adaptable. These characteristics come out in many different ways. Have you set your goals? Have you decided the path you have to take to pursue your goal? What are the sacrifices you can do to achieve your ambition? How much can you think out of the box to resolve a particular issue or bring new idea to the table? How...show more content... This characteristic will motivate me to grow better in my future career as well. I believe that few people have a strong inner feeling that pushes them to think out of the box to identify as issue and find the solution. Personally, I always try to find the most creative solution and do not give up until I get it. Sometime this energy is contagious on to next. I always search for the missing links and fine–tune my thoughts until I reach a point that works. This creativity has steadily driven my ambitions through the organization. Today the world is changing so rapidly and the way it has changed in last few decades, it hasn't changed in last few hundred years. So adaptability has become the need of the hour. I believe that adaptability is the most important quality of all, particularly if one is in technology industry. There have been times when this adaptability has changed the nomenclature of day and night but it has also given me rewards at the appropriate times. Adaptability, personally, has created a far–reaching international outlook and I was able to spend time, living outside my country of origin, working for UK retails giants and this stay not only diversified my work experience but also my cultural experience. It has improved my exposure to diverse situations with increasing levels of complexity and this exposure has increased my eagerness for new challenges. It has instigated a feeling in me that there Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. My Personal Goals Essay As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy–tale like, we tend to see life through a rose–colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal. First, my family goals include how I see myself and how I see my...show more content... I have planned monthly individual date nights with my children, so that they can have my undivided attention for a certain period of time. The second family short term goal takes into account my marriage. In order to raise happy and healthy children, a happy and healthy relationship with one's spouse is paramount. In order to achieve this goal my husband and I have decided to also dedicate more time for the two of us. For the next year we have made an agreement to take at least one vacation together, so that we may increase the bond that brought us together. We have also decided that for the next three year we will spend Holidays as a family so that we may create our own family traditions, we will do whatever is in our power to spend Holidays together, that includes not working or making other plans with the rest of our immediate families. On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Personal Narrative Essay : A Short Story She obviously hates me, she has no other reason to do something like this to me. Why this quickly? Why couldn't she let me know about this a month ago? Now I have to go somewhere that I don't know anything about. I don't know anyone there, including my own Nana! I haven't seen her since I was six, and she doesn't know anything about me. I opened my bedroom door to grab the suitcase, and there she was. My mother was standing there, staring at me with a blank stare waiting for me to open the door. "Izzy..." She mumbled. Not wanting to talk to her, or have anything to do with her at that moment, I walked back into my room with the suitcase and locked the door shut. "I got you a car service to bring you to the airport. We're flying out of different airports so I can't bring you." She said with a very low, saddened tone of voice. This is just great. One, she's leaving me for two months to someone I barely know. Two, she can't even take me to the airport. What's next, I'm going to get lost at the airport? Or maybe, I'll go to the wrong gate for the wrong flight. Nothing is going my way, nothing at all. Two days later... The plane landed here in New Mexico about thirty minutes ago, and I finally got my bag from the baggage claim. I saw my nana standing in the lobby smiling at me. She had a sign saying my name in big bold letters. I walked towards her, and she offered to give me a hug, but I walked past her. I walked straight to the car, and anyone who could see me would think I ate a chili pepper my face is so red. The whole ride home was like sitting in a dark room, alone, with no places where sound could break through. Pure and complete silence. When we walked into the small ranch home, I heard her say something in a quiet voice. "Welcome, would you like something to drink or something to eat? Suppose a soda?" "Yes please, a... a soda... please." I answered cautiously. She came out of the kitchen with a root beer, my favorite. "Would you like a tour of your home for the next two months?" She asked nicely. The words, "home for the next two months" hit my like a brick. "Yes please," I said gently. "Okay then, over here we have the kitchen..." • 7. Personal Identity: A Short Story I see high school as a new opportunity to start over and represent myself as a different person. During elementary school, I wished to escape from the shy, quiet personality I was bound to, in hopes that I could be free and show myself as someone new in a different school. I remember when I was in fifth grade, I was lonely, and disliked many people who I met. It seemed as if I didn't fit in; all of the stereotypes I arranged others into were groups I never cared for. As elementaryschool finally ended, sixth grade came. I knew that whenever I left sixth grade, I would never be the same again. It was at that school where I picked up the hobby that would change my life forever. It was the first day of school, and so far, it was no better than elementary school. The only difference was that I was older, I had a locker, and I was in a different school with different people. My personality was still the same. I still had no friends, and I never talked too much. The loudest I got was for roll call, when the teacher would ask, in a rather boring voice, "Devin Stone?", and I replied "Here!" Roll calls were actually something I looked forward to. As I slowly drifted through the day, I daydreamed about going home. It was time for my last class, band. With region tryouts coming up, I knew I had play well in order to make it in. I played the music, but I could have done better and practiced even harder. • 8. Personal Essay: What Motivates You? What motivates you? In a small part, every aspect of my life motivates me to strive for my dreams. My family; parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews and nieces motivate me and push me harder to achieve my goals and aspirations. Me being the first in my family to graduate high school, and enter into college is a tremendous amount of pressure. I want to be able to prove to them that they can reach their dreams no matter how old or young, if they are determined. Mainly, I want to show them that everything is obtainable if you work for it. My boyfriend motivates me to be the best verision of myself that I can be, we both chose to go to SFA together, after I stated I wasn't interested in going to college. He motivates me to be better, faster, stronger and more determined. He teaches me to set high goals and reach them. Lastly, my coworkers motivate me to continue to improve my already strong work ethic. As their manager, they depend on me to teach them how to succeed in our work environment. Having people look up to me motivates me to no end. I love to set examples and be a leader to show people anything is possible. Using the table on page 237, name 3 personality characteristics you possess and explain why? Without being redundant, three of the personality characteristics that I pride myself in possessing are as follows: Being thoughtful: I consider myself as thoughtful because I am constantly working on making peoples' day. • 9. Essay About Myself There are three very important aspects that play a major rule in my life. They can be categorized as intellectual, social, and spiritual. My intellectual self is interesting because I am mainly right–brained which means that I tend to use my creativity more than my mathematical skills, also making me a visual learner. My social self consists of friends, family, and my surroundings. I spend most of my time at home with my family. Whenever I am with my friends, I observe their behaviors and listen to their opinions. I am more of an independent type of person. Being with different people has influenced me into appreciating different cultures and beliefs. A few examples of my childhood memories are my mother reading to me, my grandfather playing his guitar, and my dad relentlessly teaching me how to ice skate, no matter how many times I fell. The people who affect my social life the most are my family and friends. I have an extremely close family that has played a major role in my life. They are whom I spend most of my spare time with. My family usually gathers every weekend for dinner. I am also very open to different religions, cultures, and practices because I know many people with different backgrounds and beliefs. Since I've been influenced by various people, I've learned at a very young age to never judge people by how they look, dress, feel, or act. I am very fortunate to have learned these lessons, because many people still do not understand the importance of accepting differences. In a group, I prefer to listen to what others have to say, and then contribute to the discussion. I try to listen so I am able to compare them to my own thoughts. I enjoy working in a group, because it gives everyone an opportunity to incorporate their own ideas. My social self is most greatly influenced by my family and friends. I believe that my spiritual self is the most important out of the three. Although I have a certain religion that I belong to and practice, I believe in a bit of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Personal Narrative My Life Essay Personal Narrative My Life I never really thought about where my life was going. I always believed life took me where I wanted to go, I never thought that I was the one who took myself were I wanted to go. Once I entered high school I changed the way I thought. This is why I chose to go to college. I believe that college will give me the keys to unlock the doors of life. This way I can choose for myself where I go instead of someone choosing for me. I have chosen to go to the local community college to get used to the college experience. College life can be an exciting time but at the same time it can be a challenge. I feel that starting out at the community college would be a better chose than "jumping" into life at a...show more content... I know this is what I want to do with my life. I want to be a positive influence in the lives of children. I want to be able to stand up and show the children that it is okay to be yourself and stand up for what you believe in. I am a well round student. For nine years I was actively involved in a girls organization. This experience taught me many things. We were actively involved in community service activities, for which I received the Silver Award. ( The second highest award in the organization.) I learned about the value of friendship and patients with others. This organization first introduced me to my future career. I was also involved for three and a half years in a student government club on campus. In this club I learned many life lessons. One of which was the value of hard work. I was one of the few people that organized the Junior/Senior Prom of 2000. My responsibilities included planning corranation, buying and organizing decorations, planning the busing schedule, booking the photographers, fundraising, ect. This taught me about hard work. But the best part of it was going to Prom knowing I was one of the only reasons that it happened. As far as school goes, my schedule is very diverse. I am taking child development lab, which is a class where students from my high school can go to the local elementary schools and work one on one with the students. I have work in the elementary school for two and a half years. I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Personal Narrative: A Short Story The car slowed, and the road was empty. Moving into the emergency lane, I turned the hazard lights on and the car off. There was an empty gas can in the back and sneakers. I locked the door and began to walk down I–20. I had gotten off work at lunch to be at home over labor day weekend. It was now two o'clock, and I was in the middle of upstate Louisiana. The sign said the next exit was a mile and a half away. Though it was almost fall, it was still very hot, per usual down here. My immunity to the eighty five degree weather had already worn off. I threw my jacket behind my back and kept walking. Further down the road, when the signs said there was a mile left, I began to sweat. I hadn't looked at the time since I left the car, and I didn't know how...show more content... The man offered to pay for my gas, holding his hand out for the can, but I told him I was going to call the service anyway, and he offered to pay for the phone call. I thanked him, since I didn't have change. He walked with me to the back of the store, the kid following us in. I asked about the boy when he handed me the quarters. He was their ten–year–old grandson. His parents had died a few months ago, and they were taking care of him now. He told me that the boy doesn't talk much. I gave him my condolences, and he gave me the quarters. The phone call was short; I took the leftover coins and put them in my back pocket. The woman said they could come within the hour, so I thanked her and hung up. I walked back into the main store where the kid was looking at sodas. Looking out the front door, I saw the old man pumping gas into the car. Down the aisle, the kid pulled out a coke and reached into his pocket, but his hand came out of it with nothing. I reached into mine for the couple of dollars. He saw me, and came closer, taking the few bills from my outstretched hands. He thanked me, and I asked his Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Story I woke with a start, excitement and anxiety bubbling inside of me. I kept trying to suppress my smile, but it kept etching its way onto my face. Last night, Christina, my sister, who is in college, came home, and today we were going to go on our annual snorkeling trip. I wanted to practice my swimming today, because I wanted to try out for the swim team. Christina was already on the college swim team, so I was hoping she could help me. When I finally got outside, my sister and my parents were already there. "Good morning, Christina!" I threw my arms around her. "Good morning, Nancy, you have grown so tall!" she tousled my hair playfully. I grinned and grabbed a piece of toast. "Are you both ready to go?" my mom asked. Christina's smile faltered and her face suddenly turned serious. "I'm not going. I have to study for a big test. I'm so sorry," she said, "I know it sounds like a lame excuse but it is a really important test!" "Come on!" I pleaded, "It's just for a little while! You can take your study material with you and study on the boat!" She sighed dramatically, "Oh all right... But don't expect me to get into the water." "We will see about that," I grinned to myself. We walked out the door and to the bus stop. The bus drive to the deck was uneventful, and when we got on the boat, a lifeguard with a lot of tattoos greeted us and gave all the passengers on the boat a safety presentation. I started to daydream about making the swim team. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. My Personal Feelings of Self Worth Essay People's self–esteem either high or low is shaped by their life experiences. I believe a person's self–esteem begins to take shape at an early age, with their parents being a major influence. Kind, positive, knowledgeable and caring parents help children create a positive self–image. Parents who do not feel good about themselves or others, sometimes take it out on their childern by belittling them or discouraging them. This leads the child down a path of self–doubt and eventually given the right circumstances a lower self–esteem. My parents where very overprotective which sounds good on the surface, but this caused me to feel unequal to my peers since my parents would not let me play sports or even go on a field trip one time because...show more content... If that was not enough to deal with, I also have red hair and freckles so I was constantly teased about my appearance. All this contributed to my own lack of self–confidence and a feeling that I was not as good as my peers. These are some experiences that have shaped my self–esteem. I do not portend to make excuses for myself; I only want to illustrate that you can let these experiences either motivate you or de–motivate you, the choice is always yours. I let these life experiences de–motivate until I came to the realization that you should not let others determine your fate or what you can achieve. Years ago I read a passage in a book by: "Louise L. Hay" she said; every morning you can get up and look in the mirror and decide what kind of day you are going to have." The beauty of it is, you can get up the following morning and decide all over again. This is a powerful statement, letting us know we have the power to control our feelings and shape our outlook on life. If you are telling yourself positive things, it will help you build a positive self–esteem. Example: Not long ago a golfer on the PGA Tour, was having trouble with his putting, he was losing confidence, it was starting to effect his whole game and his self–esteem since even the TV Announcers, where talking about his putting troubles. He choose to start telling himself that he was a great putter of the golf ball and in a short Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. My Personal Values Essay My personal values Values are those things that are important, meaningful and valued by an individual, a group of people, or an organization. Whether we are aware of them or not, every individual has his or her core set of values, which consist of many different kinds of values. Each individual's value system is different from one another because individual's values are built up through one's life experience, environment, and family background. Values are important to us because they reflect our personal moral standards, shape our behavior, and guide us through long life journeys. Since we live in a highly connected society, each person's value system does not only affect one's own life, but also affects many other people and the...show more content... However, we should pay attention to our manners, utilize our communication skills; and on the bottom line, we need to avoid intentionally hurting people. When coming across people who have total different opinions from mine, I always act respectfully. For example, at school, we have to do many team projects; most often, team members may come from total different cultural background, and thus always have different opinions about the same thing. Being respectful to other students, I am well–mannered, using appropriate language, opening to criticisms, and conducting myself professionally. If everyone knows how to respect to others and act respectfully to each other, we will easily to get along with each other and thus there be more happiness and less conflict in our society, so we will make the world a better place. Second, I highly value integrity. Integrity is defined as "a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. In ethics, integrity is regarded as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one's actions." It generally means not intentionally harming others, not stealing from, not cheating, or being fair to, others. I value integrity because it manifests a person's inner strength, honor, kindness, and geniuses of one's soul. According to Kantian moral perspective whether an action is morally good or not depends primarily in the intentions of the agent performing the Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. If literary works were to be split into two categories based on length of work, I would propose that these categories could be works that take the average reader less than half an hour to read, referred to as shorter length literature, and more than half an hour to read, referred to as full length literature. If this claim is accepted, then I would believe that short stories, short drama pieces, and poetry would fit into the shorter length literature category, while the full length literature category holds longer drama pieces, novels, and novellas. Poetry is the only genre among these that, because so much of it is left up to interpretation, is difficult to define character development. The rest of these works, both short and full...show more content... Maybe Mr. Adams, who talked to Old Man Warner, in "The Lottery" had opinions and feelings similar to the people he talks about from other villages. Readers will never know. Even with a surprise ending like Jackson's story has, it is difficult to accept that every person in this town would feel comfortable or pressured into following through with the murder of an innocent person. Without the sense of doubt or sense of personal growth in any characters, the story does not really leave an impact on readers. On the other hand, characters like Greg, Kate, and Sylvia leave impacts on audiences because they all grow and develop in some way. Having these protagonists for the audience to latch on to and watch change makes full length literature more affective. Furthermore, the pace of a full length work allows the audience to really "get into" these characters that will change, develop, grow, and sink the audience in further. The typical pace of a full length piece of literature needs to be quick enough to hook in an audience sooner rather than later. In plays, it is easy to get this to happen with dialogue. The effective use of dialogue makes the story move much quicker than description of scenery. The audience's introduction to the environment, the characters, and situations are almost entirely projected by dialogue. Some play writes choose to have long winded stage Get more content on HelpWriting.net

One person does not just simply fall into one category, but various categories. What is beautiful about all of us is that we all have diverse personalities, traits and qualities. I have learned that we should be proud of and embrace these unique qualities of ours. As a perfectionist, I like to present my things beautifully and creatively, and it is clearly seen on my collage. Even when someone is being rude, I try to "kill them with kindness" in return. I used the quote: "Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul". I chose to use this quote because I adore it and I go by it. What matters most is in the inside, not on the outside. I think people sometimes, even me, get too caught up and try too hard to look beautiful, but they don't focus on personality. A) I expected to get artistic, creative and investigative as my results on surveys that I took, because I already knew I had these traits as a part of my personality. However, the results from mylearning styles survey were a little surprising to me. I got visual as my highest total score, while kinesthetic and auditory were almost balanced out scores. The reason why I was a little surprised was that last year, I took a survey to figure out my learning style, and I got both auditory and visual learner. The results have their little differences, but that shows people do change over time. Learning styles can be learned and strengthened. I learned plenty of things from my results. My values–which I didn't see clearly–are now clear, and I found out the little unique things that make up my personality. Family, culture, friends, personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help shape a person's identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a person's sense of responsibilities, ethics and morals, tastes in music, humor and sports, and many other aspects of life. The largest trends I despise are rap and hip–hop and the clothing, attitudes, and type of speech that that type of 'music' is breeding. I chose to steer away from that crowd, but it may also be because I live my life off of adrenaline. My high on life is the energy I have when I get my blood pumping, my heart pounding, and my adrenaline raging. Most aspects of my individuality reflect that very well. I love hard, aggressive music, and also guns, but my passion in life is extreme sports, whether it be on a dirt bike, a bmx bike, a snowmobile, or a snowboard. I have a strong set of morals and ethics that I have partly adopted from my parents, but some are also partly my own. My morals mostly consist of karma (being kind, caring, helpful, truthful, and considerate to others), not littering (especially in nature), respecting nature, keeping a clean and welcoming home, success that is measured with happiness and not possessions, and having strong family ties. I feel that I am very strongly rounded individual who is going to go far in life. Many people would agree with that, although some people just think that I am an absolutely crazy person who has a death wish and will not go anywhere but to the hospital or the morgue. • 19. English 12: Short story personal response for The Locket, by Kate Chopin In the lives of many people, certain items have held great importance in those lives due to their association with elements that has an significant, if not symbolic effect on their lives, such as association with past memories, events, or people. The locket presented in The Locket by Kate Chopin is one that binds the themes of love, loss, the chaos of war together throughout the entire story. I believe that the locket is symbolic the motif of love in part I, and loss in part II of the story separately, this is due to shift in focus of the characters from Edmond to Octavie in the story, and the relative situation and circumstance presented in each section. I believe...show more content... Thus the locket act as a bond for Edmond and Octavie to the world of the living, as Edmond tries his best to survive, and Octavie remains hopeful, and as both are pained by the separation of the parting as expressed in the flash back, and this separation is not just the physical separation, but also of the emotional as Edmond has gone off to war, a terrible deluge that has split families and consumed many lives. At the end of part I, in the ensuing chaotic battle and retreat, the locket is found to be on the body of a dead boy. It is here that I believe the theme of war plays on the motif of loss, as it is inferred that this boy, whomever he was, even though it is hinted to be Edmond due to the presence of the locket on him, died in the battle, which was described by Chopin as "a scramble and a rush rather than any regulated movement" (P. 4, L. 2, Page 154). The battle, described as chaotic, is inferred to have caused to death of this boy, who the audience, the priest and later Octavie presumes to be Edmond. The significance is that the chaos of war caused the loss, as it kills "Edmond", also causing Octavie to grieve in part II, thus showing the far reaching effects of the war in the lives of people. In part II, the motif of loss appears in full flesh as Octavie now appears in full mourning outfit, described as appearing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
