3. The Icon On May 5, 1900 , Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey was founded. After operating for 86 years , it was suddenly shut down on May 9, 1986. One of the most important buildings, due to its history and the technological development it represented, is Horno Alto No. 3 (Blast Furnace #3), which was named Industrial Archaeological Site during 2001.

Unique in the world and located in the restored structure of the first steel plant in Latin America: “Compañía Fundidora de Fierro y Acero de Monterrey”, whose production activities ended in 1986. horno³ provides multiple interactive areas that enforce scientific and technological education, commemorating the history of steel and its industrial development, hence recreating the siderurgical process.
