1. Way of Picking a Locked Door Knob
When the key is lost, a locked door knob makes your day frustrating. Many a thief has perfect skill of
picking a locked door knob and you can do so depending on the age and type of the knob. This article is
with purpose of showing you the way to pick a variety of door knobs in different ways.
Step 1: Push Button Door Knob
How do you pick a lock? This very common type of door knob is usually found on interior doors
particularly bathrooms doors. To lock the door there is a push button in the interior door knob. The
exterior door knob either has a small round hole in its hub or smooth completely. If there is a small hole
in the door knob, you can pick it just sliding the hairpin into the hole. Until you feel it catch a recess,
trick the hairpin and then push. You will be able to unlock the door knob.
It is easy to open the door knob without a visible hole in the center; you just need to know where the
hole is hidden. Watch the stem of the door knob closely. There should be a very small hole on either of
the side. Inert the hairpin into this hole and to unlock the door knob, push down the hairpin.
Step 2 - Turning Door Knob Lock
As an interior door this type of door knob is common too. Idea of the push button door knob lock is its
working method. Still there will be a hole in the center of the door knob. As they are meant to be
unlocked using key, they are hidden very rarely. You will feel resistance when you insert the hairpin in
the hole of the door knob. At this point turn the hairpin to the same direction of the key you use to turn
to unlock the door knob.
Step 3 - Traditional Door Knob Lock
It is much harder to bypass a door knob having a threaded lock. Use of credit card is the first way. Slide
the credit card at an angle of 45 degree between the latch and the door frame. You may require to do
some work on your part to insert it properly but when you do the latch will glide over allowing you to
open the door. Removing the door knob is another way. Pull the door knob off the spindle by removing
the screws in the plate. In case of older doors the screws are on the stem of the door knob which you
must take away. There is a small push plate on the stem of other types of door knob. To push it down
use the flathead screwdriver and you can remove the door knob when pressed. Unlocking is easy once
you have access.
