• Bangladesh Government was establish first EPZ in South Halishahar in
Chittagong in 1983.
• The government has decided to establish the country’s second EPZ at
Savar near Dhaka in 1993.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority (BEPZA) is an agency of
the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh . In order to
stimulate rapid economic growth of the country, particularly through
industrialization, the government has adopted an 'Open Door Policy' to
attract foreign investment to Bangladesh.
