The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California was once the home of Henry and Arabella Huntington. Henry Huntington was a successful businessman who made his fortune in railroads. He and Arabella amassed a huge collection of books, art, and plants from around the world. In 1919, they decided to open their collection to the public. Today, the Huntington continues to house their collections and provide tours, educational programs, and care of the gardens and rare materials.
