The Science of Network Marketing: How to Achieve Results

Personally, I think we do a disservice to the industry and ourselves if we openly declare or even
mean that Network Marketing is easy. Anyone who says differently is being entirely not truthful. I
find that regrettable.
Network Marketing requires 3 main ingredients time, effort, and yes – money. Time is just a matter
of redirecting your habits. Not easy, but doable. Time directly impacts your effectiveness. The
effort is fully controllable by the individual and directly affects its effectiveness. Money is self-
limited and affects both the effectiveness and efficiency directly. An individual must find the best
combination of the three that works for them. Someone may say what that combination is. But can
help find (for example, a good sponsor).
When it comes to “advertising” finding that “best combination” of time, effort and money is a
growth experience. Rarely, it’s just education (self and provided) plus mentoring (if available) are
important factors and hopefully a fact of life. However, it is not possible “advertising”.
Personally I do advertising it is just whatever method you choose to “reach” people. It might be the
paper or electronic publication of traditional ads or simple greeting and sharing with a friend. How
you “advertise” or “share” can take many forms.
There are free and inexpensive methods that do work. It’s a matter of finding those who work for
you.
For instance:
1. Writing and submitting articles to ezine is an excellent method. Time and effort is needed
but no money. The benefits include increased link popularity of the URL used in your
(important for search engine ranking), branding, and reach sig box (you can “reach” more
than one element of an ad ezine ). Plus it is viral. Often your article is archived by
publishers and directories available well after it was originally offered. Also publishers and
webmasters often “pick up” your article again well after you originally submitted.
2. Business cards are always a good method … and more costly than we know. You can even
make your own. Just pass them like candy stores, church, ball games, local events,
restaurants (leave 1 with your bill), the companies you frequent, networking meetings, local
Chamber of Commerce. The possibilities are limited only by your imagination.
3. Flyers, posters, postcards, brochures, etc. also it can be done at very low cost. You can
make your own templates on your PC or purchase custom or ready to use many online
marketers. You might even find a joint venture with a local community provider. They print
for you and include their “advert” somewhere you distribute. You win both, you pay less, and
maybe influence that partner to participate in your business.
4. Ads newspaper / magazine can be found that will not cost an arm and a leg. Local
publications are a good place to start. http://nationwidenewspapers.com is an excellent
source. For some of my services, I found college student newspapers and alumni
magazines to be good performers.
Of course, there are the traditional ezine ads, leads programs, Forum (sig line – branding
reputation) entry, search engines, “3 foot rule”, etc. Most of them will cost you money everything
takes time and effort.
The key, I think, be creative and sticking to what best fits your time, effort, money combination. It is
and should be a personal choice. If the “cost” does not give you the “value” of dollars you expect
the dollar keep looking. But never give up.
