What is space? Space is the 3-dimensional area we work, commute, celebrate, eat, love, and live in. These spaces influence what we do and how we do it. They influence our creativity, the efficiency of our work, positive and negative thoughts, the habits we do or do not form, and our behavior in general. How often do we reflect on the space(s) we live in? At our next event, we will do exactly that. We’ll do it by a) having a look at the bare minimum one needs in a home (tiny housing) and b) reflecting on why public space is so important.

61. City Lab research, May 2014
"Cities generate economic growth through networks of
proximity, casual encounters and “economic spillovers." The
phenomenal creativity and prosperity of cities like New York is
now understood as a dynamic interaction between web-like
networks of individuals who exchange knowledge and
information about creative ideas and opportunities. Many of
these interactions are casual, and occur in networks of public
and semi-public spaces—the urban web of sidewalks, plazas,
and cafes. More formal and electronic connections supplement,
but do not replace, this primary network of spatial exchange."
