Can you think of examples based on traditional language topics?
IU is not just for Christmas! ;)
Taken from a lesson written by Rachel Hawkes – RSA
1 E-pals or e-twnning globalgateway.org.uk – send boxes with cultural artefacts, food etc. send pictures, describe the pictures and partner school have to guess which one. Sing songs to each other etc. If you have a link with another school you have a ready made audience. Could work from other subjects be sent to penpals? Eg year 7 Self Image module in Art- send self portraits to pen pals. Join with other departs eg geog, history, pe.
Again, exploit links with partner schools abroad.
Ask delegates to brainstorm ways in which film Could be used. AT this point show a film, eg Les Crayons (see Alliance Francaise) play with out picture. Ask delegates to suggest, who where when and what. Stop before the screaming and ask delegates to Predict what will happen next. Play next bit until the crayons leave the cinema. Ask them to guess what has happened. Then show film with picture.
