Computer Scientist.
3. In his TED Talk, Maeda describes how art and design will
inform creative leaders to make an impact in the future.
4. John used a comedic introduction which sort of acted as an ice breaker to start
off the conversation.
To maintain the audience’s attention he used visual concepts and comedic
gestures throughout, making his presentation more engaging.
5. DYNAMISM: 5/5 John did a great job on his overall presentation. He was bold and on topic
the whole time which I appreciated. His comedy gave us a sense of what he
is really like as a person and that can be really engaging to an audience. It
makes people want to watch you instead of having them just be a listener.
6. John Maeda does use tips from Garr
Reynolds and Nancy Duarte. He was clear in
what he was saying and he stayed on topic.
7. What I have learned based upon
watching my speaker is to be bold and
just be yourself. John had his topic to
a mad science. He knew what he was
going to talk about and he spoke. I
know if I was to do something like that
right now I would be terrified and
jumble up my words, but after
watching this I can see how easy
speaking can be. I learned to just be
myself when I get up there. I also
learned some techniques to engage
the crowd so they will keep listening
and I also learned to stay loose up
there.
8. John Maeda and Sir Ken Robinson are both very engaging. They both have a
great sense of humor and use it to their advantage. They are both very
passionate on the subject they speak about and have great communication
and eye contact with the audience.
9. Even though these two successful speakers have a lot of similarities they have their
differences. I think Sir Ken Robinson is a little more developed with his way of
speaking. His tone is much different than Maeda and that alone is different. I think he
communicates better with the audience because he sounds more to the point.
10. The tips I can give to my
classmates are the same tips that I
pulled from the talk after watching
John Maeda. Those things include
being yourself when your up there
and be to the point. Visual
concepts can help you, but be
sure not to overuse them and that
goes the same for the comedy I
mentioned John Maeda did in his
video. Keep everything contained
and do not let your nerves get the
best of you. I learned that it can be
simple, all you have to do is
practice and you will get better. I
am pretty sure that is how these
speakers did it. So if you follow
that I think you will be on your way
to becoming a better speaker.
