Definitely not 5 minutes before your talk.
In the very worst case in the break before
your session. So there is time to tackle any
technical problems that may appear.

Check the projector device.
Does the cable fit?
Is screen projection visible?
Are the colors right?
Check power outlet.
Will you be able to plug your
laptop?
Test your slides on projector.
Are the colors visible?
For example, sometimes grey is
not visible due to less contrast.
Show up early

before)
