In‐charge of an electric power generating plant. My apartment is on the 2nd floor of a brick
building. The building has large windows, basement and gas‐ run devices. It is locked by an
electronic system that in a disaster would be rendered useless in a power outage. In the event of
a major disaster, I would travel to the next city Chandpur t b ith f il M f il ’ h

is on a populated housing area, no gas ‐ run devices, no car but public transport is available there.
Being an engineer employed in emergency utility service like power plant, I may not be allowed
to leave power plant without severe disaster.

should prepare me to survive in my home for 3 to 7 days without outside aid. Items will likely
include food, water, bedding, tools (be specific), important records, insurance policies, contact
list, medications, first aid, entertainment materials, and cash/financial needs.
• A “Jump Kit” is a pre‐packed bag that includes basic care items, which allows me to act quickly
in an emergency. I think of a Jump Kit as a grab‐and‐go bag. I have developed a Jump Kit
Checklist that lists items to pack in the event of an emergency such as food, water, change of
clothes, important records, insurance policies, contact list, medications, and cash/financial
clothes important records insurance policies contact list medications and cash/financial
needs. Some people keep their Jump Kit in their car.
• These two checklists will be similar. The checklist for my Home Preparedness Kit will likely be
longer and more detailed than the Jump Kit.

check our own personal kits, each other’s kits, and discuss any concerns or additions to the

perishable items including food, water, and medicines. We will also develop a list of supplies

members on various disaster survival techniques learned throughout this course. I have
requested that all of my family members sign up for this course, so I am curious to see how
their plans develop in comparison to my own and formulate the final plan from there!
