2. Overview of Foundation Originally the mission for SADD was to help young people to say “No” to drinking and driving Now SADD has aggrandized and helps teens with many other different things along with saying no to underage drinking and driving Bad Peer pressures, turning bad peer pressure into positive peer pressure Foundation has been going on for 30 years
3. To provide students with the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, other drug use, risky and impaired driving, other destructive decisions like: teen suicide, and teen violence. SADD believes that there are other ways of having fun and allot your time other then drinking and doing other bad situations. We have many different programs go around to many different schools all around and try and help make people aware of our program. Values and Mission
4. We have a board of all different type of people. From doctors to specialist and just regular people in order to deal with all the situations the site deals with. The way that we make money is by fundraising and doing different things with the kids that are in the program. There is one specific facility in MA We go around and try to make different kids from all over of the cause that we support which is SADD Inputs
5. Process We do assembly's at certain schools We try and counsel or try to convince and show teenagers what's write and wrong and what the consequences could be, we try not to confound students Different types of learning fundraisers and activities
6. Outputs We help students We focus on reaching out to young kids so they wont make wrong choices and to think before they make a decision High percentages of teenagers and parents are aware of our program
7. We have provided a program where teenagers can go to keep from making bad decisions We have caught a lot of young peoples attention that’s helped them from being out there and making bad decisions Outcome
8. Need in the community During the past month (30 days), 26.4% of underage persons (ages 12-20) used alcohol, and binge drinking among the same age group was 17.4%. In 2008, an estimated 20.1 million Americans ages 12 or older (8.0%) were current (past-month) illicit drug users. In 2009, 11.1% of youth in grades 9-12 reported being in a physical fight. Nearly 8% of students reported being threatened or injured with a weapon on school property at least one time during the past year
9. Need in the community (continued) This much drinking, drug use, and bullying by teens needs to stop that is the need in the community for SADD The statistics for young teens to do these things are high the need for these things to stop is very much needed that’s what we focus on
10. How does this link to Critical Thinking? We have to think about situations that teens have to go through these days. We have to dichotomous with adults and kids and put ourselves in different cinereous and think how kids would be able to solve a problem and put ourselves in there shoes. Have to gather different data and information and put all together so we can be successful at what we plan to fix.
11. How critical action is linked? After everything is thought out we have to actually go into action and put into effect what we are set out to do and go out and help teenagers. Be active with teens and work with them in different activities and talk to them in order to help with the need we are working for. We have to be able and go out and in a way promote our program in order for us to succeed.
12. Just Think SADD better links up with Just Think because they focus on a lot of the same things that our organization focuses on. They talk a lot about teens and there problems, in a way they also want like we say to have good peer pressure, the people around you.
13. Just think (continued) The Just Think organization also focuses things like violence and problems that you could be able to handle with a little help, help like we try to offer. They focus on living good lives.
