Cool Things About
          Recycling!
Recycling one aluminum can saves enough
energy to run a TV for three hours! 350,000
aluminum cans are produced every minute!
More aluminum goes into beverage cans than
any other product. Once an aluminum can is
recycled, it can be part of a new can within six
weeks. During the time it takes you to read
this sentence, 50,000 12-ounce aluminum
cans are made. We use over 80,000,000,000
aluminum pop cans every year.

Recycling
    Statistics on glass
Glass is one of the very few products that can
be completely recycled again and again. But
most often times, it ends up in landfills and never
decompose. There is an increased demand for
recycled glass referred to as “cullet” in the glass
industry. Glass and plastic take the longest to
decompose but are completely recyclable,
therefore, it is important to purchase, recycle,
and reuse both glass and plastic products.
Compost
Composting is the world’s oldest form of recycling –
humans by literally millions of years. A common
example is a deciduous tree, which litters the
forest floor with hundreds of discarded leaves
every fall. And yet these leaves do not build up
year after year, they do not release toxins into
the surrounding environment, and they do not
diminish the productivity of the soil (like much of
the trash we produce). Rather, the leaves
become food for a different set of organisms,
which compost it and return the nutrients to the
  soil.
