effect and how?
• The greenhouse effect is provoked by emission of
a) Carbon Dioxide (CO2)

8. Which are the effects of Global
Warming?
• sea level rise (water expands as it warms) During the 20th century,
sea level rose about 15-20 centimeters (roughly 1.5 to 2.0
mm/year).
• widespread melting of snow and ice
• increased heat content of the oceans
• increased humidity
• the earlier timing of spring events, e.g. the flowering of plants
• more and stronger hurricanes, droughts and heat waves.

 Animal extinction
 Destruction of the natural environment
 Islands and countries will be covered up by
water and will become one with the ocean.
 And even human kind extinction ,as it would be
impossible to survive under such harsh conditions.

12. What can we do in order to alleviate
this grave problem?
• Improvements to energy efficiency
• Vehicle fuel economy (so less energy has to be produced)
• Increases in wind and solar power
• Hydrogen produced from renewable sources
• Biofuels (produced from crops)
• Natural gas
• There is also the potential to capture the carbon dioxide emitted
from fossil fuels and store it underground—a process called “carbon
sequestration.”
*In addition to reducing the gases we emit to the atmosphere, we can
also increase the amount of gases we take out of the atmosphere.
• Plants and trees absorb CO2 as they grow, so increasing forestlands
and making changes to the way we farm could increase the amount
of carbon we’re storing.
