TELEVISION DISTRIBUTION
 Terrestrial broadcasting was the first kind of distribution
 Its was limited to 50 Km only
 Delhi and its neighbouring states were able to grab
 Cable TV made its appearance in 1991
 Bombay skyscrapers and cooperative housing societies in the
sub-urban
 Satellite based TV transmission proved to be successful
 It gave us access to both national and International channels
TELEVISION DISTRIBUTION
 In 2003, DD launched Direct-to-Home (DTH) services in
India
 Set-top box is mandatory to receive the signals
 Later, ZEE TV, Star TV, Dish TV and Tata Sky and several
other corporate companies launched same services
TELEVISION DISTRIBUTION
 In 2007, TRAI made CAS (Conditional Access System)
 In 2009, HITS (Headend-in-the Sky) mode launched to for TV
content in India
 HITS delivers the content to MSOs
 HDTV is supreme distribution technology in TV content
 Mobile TV, IPTV, Digital terrestrial television

TV TRANSMISSION BANDS
 TV is transmitted on various bands
 It vary by country
 Band-I: do not have enough bandwidth
 Band-II: it can able to carry audio signals
 Band III, IV & V- these can carry both audio and video signals
 Most of the TV signals having 4MHz of bandwidth
 In USA- Band-III to V are used
TV TRANSMISSION BANDS
 VHF-Very high frequencies are channels (2to 13)
 UHF (Ultra high frequencies) includes 14 to 83 channels
 High Bands behaves like light waves
 NTSC (National Television Standard Committee) states video signals must
have 525 lines/second
 NTSC make easy for all TV sets to pick up same signals
CODE OF ETHICS
 I& B ministry & advertisers recommended code of ethics
 Programmes be slotted into three categories
Universal (U), Under Parental Guidance (U/A), Adult (A)
 Content Code provides list of themes
Crime and Violence
Obscenity and Nudity
Drug, smoking, tobacco and alcohol
Libel and Defamation
Religion and Community
Harm and Offence
Advertisements and General restriction
SOCIAL OBJECTIVES
 Act as catalyst for social change
 To promote national integrity
 To stimulate scientific temper
 To educate on population control and family welfare
 To provide agriculture information
 To promote environmental balance
 To highlight social welfare
 To promote games, sports, art and culture

TELEVISION DISTRIBUTION  Terrestrial broadcasting was the first kind of distribution  Its was limited to 50 Km only  Delhi and its neighbouring states were able to grab  Cable TV made its appearance in 1991  Bombay skyscrapers and cooperative housing societies in the sub-urban  Satellite based TV transmission proved to be successful  It gave us access to both national and International channels

TV TRANSMISSION BANDS  TV is transmitted on various bands  It vary by country  Band-I: do not have enough bandwidth  Band-II: it can able to carry audio signals  Band III, IV & V- these can carry both audio and video signals  Most of the TV signals having 4MHz of bandwidth  In USA- Band-III to V are used

TV TRANSMISSION BANDS  VHF-Very high frequencies are channels (2to 13)  UHF (Ultra high frequencies) includes 14 to 83 channels  High Bands behaves like light waves  NTSC (National Television Standard Committee) states video signals must have 525 lines/second  NTSC make easy for all TV sets to pick up same signals

CODE OF ETHICS  I& B ministry & advertisers recommended code of ethics  Programmes be slotted into three categories Universal (U), Under Parental Guidance (U/A), Adult (A)  Content Code provides list of themes Crime and Violence Obscenity and Nudity Drug, smoking, tobacco and alcohol Libel and Defamation Religion and Community Harm and Offence Advertisements and General restriction
