The 9th INEX Workshop was held from December 13-15, 2010 in Huize Bergen, Vught, The Netherlands. Several tracks were discussed including ad hoc, book, data centric, interactive, and question answering tracks. Participants acknowledged the wonderful work that was done in all tracks. It was discussed that after 10 years it may be time to rethink the tasks for INEX to improve upon them and keep up with changes in search and information consumption. Great plans were made for the 10th INEX Workshop in 2011.

Today SharePoint is used in a variety of business processes. SharePoint is an ideal platform for enterprise-wide collaboration solutions. By using SmartPhones or SmartPads you can implement entirely new applications for SharePoint. In this session I will demonstrate examples how to use the iPhone, iPad or a Windows Phone 7 to access SharePoint data. I will show the iPad Solution for the German SharePoint Community and the SPDashboard, which allows you to browse through SharePoint data via iPhone or iPad. I will present how “Mobile SharePoint” can be used by field staff to get relevant data in real time. These are some of the examples I will demonstrate.

"Smart Content: The Importance of Semantics in Publishing" The way we organize our information is shifting from the book-centric table of contents or bibliographic citations to a more dynamic approach that directs us to content that may never have been initially intended, or previously encountered. Smart content is content that is equipped with structured data that allows it to soar across domains, user groups, profiles, and knowledge maps to reach readers in non-linear ways. Through the guidance of taxonomies and the exploitation of classifications, smart content no longer waits for the wisdom of the reader, but seeks the most appropriate reader for its content. This presentation explores how semantics and reliable metadata act as agents to broker such relationships.
