Sunsilk
Sunsilk is a hair care brand, primarily
aimed at women, produced by
the Unilever group, which is now
considered the world's leading company
and brand in hair conditioning and the
second largest in shampoo.Sunsilk is
Unilever’s leading hair care brand, and
ranks as one of the “billion dollar brands".
Sunsilk shampoos, conditioners and other
hair care related products are sold in 69
countries worldwide.
International branding
Sunsilk is sold under a variety of different
names in markets around the world
including Elidor, Seda and Sedal. The
brand is strongest in Asia, Latin
America and the Middle East and is the
number one hair care brand
in Pakistan, India, Brazil, Argentina, Bolia,
Bangladesh,SriLanka,Indonesia,
and Thailand.
History
and Milestones
• 1954 – Sunsilk first launched in the UK.
• 1955 – First advertisement of Sunsilk
appeared on TV.
• 1964 – Launch of Sunsilk hair spray.
• 1968 – Sunsilk shampoo re-packaged in PVC
bottles. At the same time, Sunsilk was
launched in the in Europe, Brazil and in Asia.
• 1971 – Launch of Sunsilk conditioner.
• 1975 – Sunsilk became the biggest name in
hair care.
• 1982 – Sunsilk launches 2 in 1 shampoo with
conditioner.
• 1992 – They introduced for Sunsilk Classic
and Expert Care in the Philippines.
• 1993 - Sunsilk's Campaign started with its
institute Elida in Latin America, Asia, France
& Australia.
• 1996 - Seda/Sedal/Sunsilk was relaunched
with a new variant, Ceramides for dull, weak
hair.
• 1998 - Frutamin was introduced.
• 2003 – Sunsilk glossy magazine launched in
Argentina.
• 2008 – Social networking site Gang of Girls
was introduced in India.
• 2009 - Sunsilk was relaunched as Sunsilk Co-
Creations.

• Ammonium Chloride
• Ammonium lauryl sulfate
• Glycol
• Sodium laureth sulfate
• Polysorbate 20
• PEG-150
• Citric acid
• Methylisothiazolinone, or MIT
shampoo formulations to maximize the
following qualities

• ease of rinsing
• minimal skin and eye irritation

• slight acidity(pH less than 7)

Monroe all featured in Sunsilk's 2008 advertising
campaign.
 Actress and Model Humaima Malick is the brand
ambassador for Sunsilk in Pakistan.
 Actress and former Model Yureni Noshika is the
brand ambassador for Sunsilk in Sri Lanka.
 Actress and former Miss World Priyanka
Chopra is the brand ambassador for Sunsilk
in India.
 In 2009, actress and singer Delta Goodrem was
announced as the "face of Sunsilk" in Australia.
Health risks/Disadvantages
A number of contact allergens are used
as ingredients in shampoos, and contact
allergy caused by shampoos is well
known. Methylisothiazolinone, or MIT
is an ingredient used in many
commercial shampoos. MIT and its
closely related
analog, chloromethylisothiazolinone or
CMIT, affect the ability of young or
developing neurons to grow processes in
tissue cultura.It also causes hair damage
and hair losses.
