CREATIVE WRITING
MS. BACK’S 9TH GRADE ENGLISH CLASS
Student Learning Objective:
Students will be able to develop creative writing
skills by collaborating and interacting with other
students, to create a Multimedia PowerPoint
presentation about a narrative story.
LESSON 1: TEACHER LECTURE
 What is creative writing?
 How do people write creatively?
 What is the purpose?
 What can you write creatively
about?
 When is creative writing used?
CREATIVE WRITING PROVIDE GUIDED NOTES/PRINT OUT
 Creative writing is a form of writing that is written with a descriptive and creative mind.
 There are many styles of creative writing, such as: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, novels, and more.
 The purpose is to not only express ones deepest thoughts, but to also entertain, educate, and spread
awareness.
 Within creative writing, we can write about anything: a story, an experience, friends, a hobby, a memory,
an event and even the “what if” scenarios.
 Creative writing should almost always be used, because the amount of detail a writer incorporates, a
reader can visualize the writing through second hand experience.
ANY QUESTIONS?
CREATIVE WRITING EXAMPLE:
by Stacie Williams
Vampires
 Vampires are everywhere and there is no escape at all. So we get together and try to come up with a way
out. All the while they are circling us all bloody and still hungry for more. The big problem is while we
are trying to save ourselves more keep coming. When out of nowhere pops this big strong half human
and half vampire man starts howling and has a really awesome looking sword and some guns too. He is
known as the dark stranger. We were glad to see him he also had some buddies with him so we knew it
was going to be ok. That is until they were coming for us and not the vampires. It turns out we were the
bad guys and the vampires were the good guys weird huh. Except I didn't believe they were good I think
the stranger was wrong and was there because he couldn't resist human blood no more.
