2. Process
I started by created some objects/characters for my game, I created
these to get an idea for the art style that I wanted to use. My games
going to be in 1st person and that meant that i do not have as many
characters in mine but there is an option where you have a choice to
kill people and this is what they might look like. At the end of the
game I wanted to have a sniper level so I have included a first person
view of the weapon even including just a drawing of the scope. This
is the art style that I want for the game, the hands are good and I
think I am going to keep them and bob them up and down in the
animation to allow it too look exactly like walking. The mad scientist
in the top left will not be included in my game I just thought that if
the character was going to have one specific face, this would go well
with the game, instead when a text box comes on the screen I am
going to use one of the question mark boxes to symbolise the
unknown. Everything that I have made on these documents are very
good and useful towards what my game is going to be. I especially
like the sniper and hands that I have made, these are my favourite
because I like the simplicity of the shape and colours but they look
so complex and detailed. These document sizes were 120 x 80 pixels
but when I make my final video game the size is going to be on a
document size of 480 x 320 pixels.
3. ProcessTo start of making my game I chose the font and size of it that I am going to use
for my text on the menu screen. I drew the letters myself using pixels in a 3x3
square grid, and I used all the same dimensions to make the text look right and
okay. This font is good for the menu but the in game text is going to be different
to this in a big way just to mix it up and it wouldn’t work and look as good if this
was done. I also decided to start some mini games, I decided to make two, one is
a puzzle game where you have to turn around pipes in the correct positions to
make water run smoothly, this is a very generic idea for a puzzle game and has
been done many times before but it works very well, I had to draw each square
separately on a new layer to make them all rotatable for the game to work. The
second game is one with a miniature war game so I have created a little tank
which in my opinion is recognisable and is something different than your original
puzzle game. You will play as the little tank and go around in a maze and battle
other enemies until you reach the end and get out. Both of these games are
above air views and I believe that this is the best and only way to have them. The
final production task that I carried out was the making of a background in the
game screenshot and this is alright, however I think it can be improved greatly the
floor is just so full and repetitive it looks like an illusion the back wall with the
door in is absolutely fine though and I will not change that. All of the colours of
everything I have created so far are black and this is fine it suits the genre well
but I think that I should mix in some other colours, otherwise it will be too boring.
4. Process
I think that my background is good for my game and I wouldn’t
really want to go further into detail with it so it shall look like
this and also I added the light with the darkness going outwards
to get that spooky/thriller feeling, the light was a nice touch and
it will flash and go black to make the game seem limited like
their practically is no escape. My game is all puzzles and I
decided that all of them might not be on a computer in the
middle of a room, some of them might be actual physical
puzzles such as mazes or parkour but I don’t know weather I will
have time to create them and animate them for the project
finish date. Nothing as of yet is animated it is all just
screenshots, more like a plan of what my final product was
going to look like. For the tank mini game I drew a maze and
created the map, I thought about adding other colours and
making it more complex but then I really like the simplicity of it.
I created all of the different paths that the pipe could take,
however when the time comes I may be able to only create one
or the other due to the limited time that I have. It is the best
way to animate when you make all of your layers first and all of
the objects and parts of your game and finish everything, once
this is done then you have to animate.

I used the music website beep box to make my music, this website I have never used before but it was simple to
understand since the music always runs on a loop, you can make your own sets. The requirements for the music were
made as well, I made it 8 bit music and it was simple and repetitive but it worked well. This was not the only song I
planned on making I was going to make some others later on for different parts of the game. I really liked the song
considering music is not really my talent I think it turned out okay and it works with the game. I also decided to make a
menu screen so I planned it out and created it on Photoshop. My first animation was also done it is where the option of
to kill a man or not, with this in the game it makes it more of a thriller which I think makes it a better gameplay
experience, the man is not very detailed but then it is a minor part of the game so I don’t think it needed to be more
detailed then he is now. This character is missing parts of clothing and this is too add to the game to make him look
roughed up, making the backstory even better. I decided on the menu screen to add some parts of my game in on it and
this was to make it more interesting and like a preview of what is to come.
6. Process
For this day I decided to look into garage band, I spent about 20 minutes on this but I decided that this was to
complex and hard to understand so instead I used the app beep box. The song that I made is very 8 bit and it has
more deeper notes played in it, this is because I wanted this too seem a bit more creepy/thriller like to play it over
the background screenshot to make the game even better. Another task that I carried out was the making of a
animation which involved a sniper this however is very short and I do not like it so I shall not be included it in my
final game but it was a good attempt to see what my game could look like when it is on its last level. The main part
of my project which I carried out today was the animating of the tank mini-game, I animated this well and it is not
too jumpy and jolty considering I used the tween tool to make most of it. It is of a good length and it has a timer
which counts down in actual correct time, I had to use a lot of layers to make the animation work. I didn’t do as
much work as I would have liked to on this day.
7. Process
The products that I made this day were all of my
animations , I finished them all off and exported
them to 1080 x 720 and nearest neighbour (hard
edges) for later use when I wanted my final video
made to export in premier. The videos I finished
animating were the loading screen, the
background animation and I finished the mini-
game. With all of these finished I didn’t have
much work left to do which was good because I
was coming to the end of the project date.
The tank game is not very puzzle like but I wanted to mix things up and make everything in my game not the genre
of puzzle games. With this mini game it gives more detail about the game and what is to come even though it will
make the video another 30 seconds longer. The maze however adds a nice touch and relates to the puzzle genre. I
decide on the loading screen due to the fact that everything would run one after the other and I didn’t look right so
it needed some breaks between levels and games. With the background I decided on adding the hands to the game
to make the 1st person seem more realistic and clear the hands move as well to make it seem that in the animation
the character is moving forward.
All of the videos were drawn in pixels
and they could have been improved
even more as to be not as blurry but I
think that they still work and show off
my video game well. My colour
schemes across all the animations are
very dark and the only bright colours I
use are white and red and these are
used because they contrast the best
with black in my opinion.
8. Process
Today I finished the last animation which was the menu screen, once I had
finished making this I wrote my script which was going to be narration for
my game and this was not to tell a backstory but more of a guide of what
to do and to make it feel more like an actual real life experience. I also
started my work on premier and imported all of the videos into the
project but I didn’t get to do that many changes with the project to make
it better since I ran out of time so I decided to work on it tomorrow. I have
used premier pro many times before and I know how to use all the effects
on it to make videos and sounds better and this really helped me to make
my video game just that little better.
I wrote this script really quick in
about 5 minutes so it was a bit
of a rough sketch and I might
not even include all of the
dialogue in my game, I might cut
it down or change words to
make it for the better of course.
With the dialogue over the
video it will be complete,
however I probably will add
some sound effects to just add
that little extra detail towards
the game.
9. Process
Finally I finished my video game on premier and handed it in. It is very long but I think with its length it describes the game
very well. The game can definitely be improved, to improve it I could have made it a little less blurry and maybe I could have
added some sound effects but today was the final hand-in where I had to finish everything. I really liked how the video ran
and all of the sounds that went over them, the sounds were turned down to make them less quiet and the dialogue was
slowed to make the voice deeper to add effect on to the game. I didn’t add any sounds effects because I didn’t have time
but I'm not sure where I would have included them and if it would have made the game better in any way. The video was
very smooth even the screenshots with the dialogue over that I added right at the end.
