Dunlap High School won both first and second place in the 6th Annual OSF/JA Titan Business Strategy Competition. The first place team will receive $1,000 scholarships and the second place team $500 scholarships. Peoria High School won third place. The competition involved 24 teams from 6 central Illinois high schools competing in a virtual business simulation. Adam White, owner of Running Central, gave the keynote speech about striving for greatness and constantly pursuing improvement. Junior Achievement of Central Illinois has grown significantly in recent years and aims to continue expanding educational programs to more central Illinois students.

Junior Achievement of Central Illinois announces winners of TITAN Business Strategy
Competition
The 6th Annual OSF/JA Titan Business Strategy Competition Challenge was the biggest ever! This
year twenty-four teams from six central Illinois high schools participated. Big congratulations to
Dunlap High School, who came out on top with both a first place and a second place win. First place
team members will each receive a $1,000 scholarship for post-secondary education. Second place
team members will each receive $500 post-secondary scholarships. Both teams were mentored by
teacher Angie Stancil, and Josh Riekena from Country Financial. Peoria High School took home the
third place win. The Peoria High team was mentored by Robert Hughes from Caterpillar and teacher
Holly Duke.
All scholarships were generously sponsored by PNC Bank. Industry and Team sponsorships were
provided by ADM, Komatsu, Illinois American Water, United Facilities, Simantel, ITEX, Body
Obstetrics & Gynecology, Bob Lindsay Honda, Community Foundation of Central Illinois, Finish
Line Ford, Associated Bank, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Adam White, President/Owner of Running Central, was the lunch keynote speaker. White provided
the students with real life examples of how high school education and entrepreneurial thinking
influenced his life and career path. Adam spoke about constantly striving for greatness. “Good is the
opposite of great and great is a constant quest. There is no finish line,” said White.
The JA Titan Business Strategy Competition is a unique online business competition that puts high
school students in the leadership seat to run a virtual company. Each three student team took on the
role of CEO, CFO, and Marketing R&D as they directly compete with the other teams to successfully
sustain their business. Each team was matched with a business mentor from the community to guide
them through decision making.
