SlideShare is a website launched in 2006 that allows users to share and embed slideshow presentations. It has grown to host over 25 million monthly visitors who view over 70 million pages. Users can share presentations publicly or privately, embed slideshows on other sites, and add audio to slides. SlideShare also provides analytics to track engagement. Public relations professionals have utilized SlideShare to engage audiences and build professional networks by incorporating social features into presentations that then spread virally online. For example, in 2011 the communications firm Edelman used SlideShare to share the results of its annual Trust Barometer survey.
