The document examines American Jewish giving to Israel over time, how it has changed, and what the future may hold. Traditionally, the United Jewish Appeal (UJA) and the Jewish Agency were the primary recipients of American donations to support causes in Israel. However, over time less money is coming into the federation system, a smaller portion is allocated overseas, and an even smaller portion goes to the Jewish Agency. Instead, more money is now given through other pass-through organizations. While total American Jewish donations to Israel have increased when adjusted for inflation, the UJA and its successor organizations have seen their contributions decline in real terms. The future of fundraising is uncertain as younger generations of American Jews have higher rates of intermarriage
