It’s now official -- the initiation or charter night is recorded in history. The next step, the chapter development program, is divided into six phases—essentially, the first six-month calendar for the new chapter. Phase or Month 1 Activation of members through Organization Building Blocks (a program that develops a committee structure and assigns every member to a committee) Orientation and Initiation Night (see prior slide for details) Phase or Month 2 Elect officers and committee chairpersons Offer Non-Profit Management Training (such as JCI Achieve) Conduct a general membership meeting Phase or Month 3 Formulate Local Organization Strategic Plan Complete Local Organization Constitution and Bylaws Implement website and e-newsletter Conduct a general membership meeting; showcase Mentor Program (use JCI Senators or new JCI Coach program) Begin team activation or scorecard program, a fun program that gets the new members involved. Each member will be assigned to one of the various teams to compete for prizes. Teams earn points by getting involved, such as attending meetings, functions, projects, etc. The team with the most points at year’s end wins the prize. Phase or Month 4 Conduct a Networking Event (BNE) Conduct a Service project (selected by Local Organization based on community needs) Conduct general membership meeting Host a Quarterly Business Skills seminar (utilize Business Leaders survey and results and choose one of top four selections) Phase or Month 5 Twin with another Local Organization Conduct a personal skills program (personal improvement selected by members) Conduct general membership meeting – include a keynote guest speaker Phase or Month 6 Report to employers on performance review (report to members’ employers on the meetings they’ve attended, programs they’ve chaired, committees they’ve served on, or if they have been absent and not active with the Local Organization) Implement the Outstanding Young Persons program Conduct a general membership meeting Note that starting the second month, a general membership meeting should be conducted. Programs and speakers can be added as well. By following this Chapter Organization Development program over the first six months, each member will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, a sense of social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship in their local community. And each structured committee will have a part in establishing the future direction of the Local Organization and its activities.
