RATINGS
• About a million more people listen to the "60
Minutes" radio simulcast in several major cities

• tens of thousands each week experience "60
Minutes" online. The broadcast's segments can
be watched at 60Minutes.com, while a new
  sister site, 60MinutesOvertime.com., offers
content originally produced for the Web only,
  including behind-the-scenes video about the
production of "60 Minutes" stories and timely
  archival segments.

• The broadcast's content can also be watched
on the iPad; its application is one of the most
popular paid apps in the App Store.
TARGET AUDIENCE
• The target audience for 60 Minutes can
range from college students from ages 20-
  60 yrs old.

• We felt that high school kids would most
likely not watch this show. The most
common viewers we felt were adults ages
  30-50 years old.
NEWS VS. ADVERTISING
          CONTENT
• Most of the 60 minute program is based on interviews. They
broadcast a certain story for example; Angelina Jolie, Crisis in Middle
  East, Income for workers.

• During the hour broadcast there is usually two interviews or two
different segments on topics. Sometimes they take things head on for
example; “questioning pelosi” , “tasers/gun masks,” “madoff”
  Sometimes bring up current topics.

• The program we would say, is 60/100 percent news according to your
definition of “news.” Sometimes the interviews are not necessarily
news related. Ex. Taylor Swift Interview. Mostly a lot of the interviews
are investigative. At the end of the interview they usually go into
current topics and inform the viewer what’s going on.
Newsworthiness

                    9/10
 We decided to give a high rating because it seems 60 Minutes
only cover the most interesting stories of the week. They cover
a wide variety of news. For example
science, politics, business, entertainment, sports, and
  biographies.
Fairness/Balance

                     8/10
 We decided to give this section of 60 minutes a high score
because you rarely see the correspondents attacking the
guest durring the interview. Also we weren't able to find that
the direction of the shows in general were aiming in a certain
way besides getting the story across to the public. Overall 60
minutes leaves the opinions balance up to the guest and just
  asks all the right questions.
Timeliness

                    5/10
 Although it is a popular program they only air once a week on
Sunday for one hour. We agreed that it was inconvenient
because it is a news program.
Tone/Mood

                     7/10
 The correspondents for 60 minutes who cover the stories are
extremely professional. They ask all the right questions to get
the best answers for the audience. They seem very laid back
and interested in the topic at hand.
Bias/objectivity

                   10/10
 60 minutes doesn’t show any position on a political standpoint.
Also it seems they are not affected by any gender, race, or
religion. As if their sole purpose is to tell the story, and have no
  persuasion what so ever.
Research/Sources

                      8/10
 60 minutes has a segment in the beginning of the show to
describe what that weeks show is going to be about. Giving
some of the facts but letting the story unfold as it is told by the
guest. They have had many important people on their show.
For example Presidents, foreign Ambassadors, and important
  business leaders.
Watchdog

                   9/10
 We gave this section a high score because 60 minutes does a
great job of getting public figures such as
celebrities, politicians, Athletes and more on the show to
display their viewpoint on certain topics to the public.
Weekly Wrap-up

                    8/10
 60 Minutes is a weekly show and finds the most interesting
stories to put on the show from the past week. They also
display continuous problems and projects that are taking
place during the week as well.
Final Score!

                         80 %
We found 60 Minutes to be a fun anticipating show for a wide age group.
It was extremely diverse and put together the story extremely
professionally. We would recommend this television broadcast.

  • 11. Newsworthiness 9/10  We decided to give a high rating because it seems 60 Minutes only cover the most interesting stories of the week. They cover a wide variety of news. For example science, politics, business, entertainment, sports, and biographies.
  • 12. Fairness/Balance 8/10  We decided to give this section of 60 minutes a high score because you rarely see the correspondents attacking the guest durring the interview. Also we weren't able to find that the direction of the shows in general were aiming in a certain way besides getting the story across to the public. Overall 60 minutes leaves the opinions balance up to the guest and just asks all the right questions.
  • 13. Timeliness 5/10  Although it is a popular program they only air once a week on Sunday for one hour. We agreed that it was inconvenient because it is a news program.
  • 14. Tone/Mood 7/10  The correspondents for 60 minutes who cover the stories are extremely professional. They ask all the right questions to get the best answers for the audience. They seem very laid back and interested in the topic at hand.
  • 15. Bias/objectivity 10/10  60 minutes doesn’t show any position on a political standpoint. Also it seems they are not affected by any gender, race, or religion. As if their sole purpose is to tell the story, and have no persuasion what so ever.
  • 16. Research/Sources 8/10  60 minutes has a segment in the beginning of the show to describe what that weeks show is going to be about. Giving some of the facts but letting the story unfold as it is told by the guest. They have had many important people on their show. For example Presidents, foreign Ambassadors, and important business leaders.
  • 17. Watchdog 9/10  We gave this section a high score because 60 minutes does a great job of getting public figures such as celebrities, politicians, Athletes and more on the show to display their viewpoint on certain topics to the public.
  • 18. Weekly Wrap-up 8/10  60 Minutes is a weekly show and finds the most interesting stories to put on the show from the past week. They also display continuous problems and projects that are taking place during the week as well.
